Saw this just now. Not really the weather for it but at least any salt has been well washed away!

That looks lovely, not sure I recall seeing one in that hue before.

"Persian Yellow" was an original colour but it was very much lighter

Swisstoni's spot may be Giallo Fly which is a Ferrari colour and maybe a modern Alfa colour

A bit crusty, but one for the Mini Buffs..

From what I can find, 1275 LS of which around 800 built by Leyland Australia in 1978 - all either gold or silver. Engine is 1275 A series. Apparently all Australian Minis of the 70s had the Clubman front, regardless of engine, including the van.

The mix of wind-up windows and external hinges is interesting. Nij will be along soon to put my mind at rest.

I’ll try to find the bit that I read but apparently all Aus Austin Minis were Clubman front grafted on to Mk1 Mini from A pillar back

But, as you say, Nij will put us to rights biggrin

Rest easy young Dicky - Auz Minis are a bit of a minefield but your eyes are not deceiving you! They were amongst the first to have front quarterlights, wind up windows and 'pull' door handles, along with the Innocenti versions in Italy and the Authi versions in Spain. In all three countries there was some overlap in the features each version had between the various Mk1, 2 and 3 versions, while here in the UK the transition was much simpler. (I've just remembered some of the South African built Minis had most of of these features early on too, they also built a standard Mk3 Mini with a Hornet / Elf extended rear end).

A friend of ours moved to Auz in 2000 and took one of his BL Minis with him, within a few months he had also acquired four locally built examples including one of the earliest Mk1 Cooper Ss.

Video of a collection of Auz Minis...

The Clubman front was introduced in 1971, and they were called Morris Mini Clubman. In 1973 they became Leyland Mini - they were never badged Austin in Oz.

They were basically a Mk1 from the A pillar back.

Three standouts this weekend…

Silver E30 M3

Green Lancia Beta 5-door

Dark blue 964 3.6 Turbo - the only such car I can find for sale over here has an asking price of AU$850k…

Got a couple of snaps of the Beta but can’t upload right now. Didn’t have a camera handy for either the Porsche or BMW

That bonnet panel gap! You could change the plugs without needing to open the bonnet!

I think the design was about 30 years ahead of it's time. So many radical ideas that are now accepted as normal. If it had 20" wheels it could be a current car.
