I'm glad the SZ exists but all things considered I'd rather have a 75 V6.

I was about to lambast you, but then I realised you didn't mean a Rover...hehe

I've had one and I'd say the 2.0ts is a much nicer car to drive.

I spotted this Seat in Lanzarote a few weeks ago. The equivalent that we got in the UK was the Fiat 127 and only in 3 door guise. This would have been what we knew as a Series 2 car that ran from 77 to 81.

What a great car they were and fantastic to see one in everyday use. Why can’t car manufacturers make cheap, light fun cars like this anymore.

My Dad had a 127 as our family car when i was a child, then a 128 (3 door estate type style).

Sticks.

We had a couple of mk3 127s. The 1050cc engine revved nicely and it was light and nippy. Great fun on B roads and the 5 sp box made it OK for distances too.

Fiat 127 launched in 1971 - UK deaths from RTA in 1970 = 7499.
Initial data for 2022 = 1695

The numbers never tell the whole story, but that's a clue as to why cars can't be built that way, any more.

Gaydon museum today, for the 'Rustival' show - my mate and I met up in our cars en route and there was a great mix of vehicles on display when we got there...

Had an identical Triumph 1300 ca. 1990. It ended up in a ditch on New Year’s Eve after I tried to do a handbrake turn. Much to my brother’s annoyance, because he was actually driving at the time. A farmer helped tow us back out. Miraculously the only damage was a displaced number plate, which I screwed back on the next morning.

That's a really diverse mix - must have been a great day out!

My Mum took a test drive in one of those Fiat 127GTs back in the day. I loved it, but she paid more for a new Fiesta 1.1S.frown

Some really rare examples on show today at Rustival along with the interesting chats with people there. Not long back, well worth the 720 mile round trip!

Those pictures just show what a broad school car enthusiasm is.

Can’t imagine anything similar for electric cars
