Just checked the Cavalier on the DVLA site out of curiosity. It died in 1996 it seems. RIP.

I can't read the registration number but if you remember what it was I may be able to tell you if the car still exists.

I would understand if the O.P. took exception....but the picture was taken in " period" and if not a classic now (although there are some would argue the opposite) it remains one of my all time favorites for so many reasons .

With slightly shortened road springs and a set of wider than stock BBS rims bought new in 1989....the E30 M3 .

Hi Sorry Mikial it doesn't look like it still exists. It's not on the DVLA site or my records, I'd still love to see the other image though.

Thanks

Gary

Re: the Lamborghini Espada, what's not to like about a car called a "Sword"? Martin Amis gives John Self, the hilarious wastrel anti-hero of one of his novels a car called, if I recall correctly, a "Violator". We need more cars called "Schlong", or maybe "Weiner".

More period letters:-

Excellent correspondence, although I don`t recall having a hot air blast problem with mine. Looking at this now I can`t remember what possessed me , looks like an exhaust modification too. !

There is more of that correspondence- for a selection see the Interceptor thread in Readers' Cars.

Your tail pipes look pretty standard to me.

Very many thanks and an interesting letter too.
Could I have your permission to add one of the Frogeye images to the Photographic database of UK registered Mk1 Sprites www.frogeye.fotopic.net . It is possible that a previous or subsequesnt owner may recognise it.

My pleasure Gary, I would be pleased to grant permission. , I had managed to pick up 4 speeding offences in the Sprite, resulting in a 13 month ban , I chose the Chamois after the Sprite, lowered it ,fitted 4.5 inch rims , a Reece -Fish carburetor, Peco exhaust, fitted a Rev counter too and a reclining seat ! After the Chamois came a Lotus Elan .

What an excellent phot considering it's 50 years old, it's not lost any of it's colour.

Scanned from a slide transparency taken with a 1958 Kodak Retina IIc using a Veho slide scanner. My Dad's still got the camera. He's got loads more pics, which he's scanning in gradually. I'll pick out the car ones!
