There has been very little response from the members of Autopuzzles - they have been given the "blown-up" photo as well as the original to put the size in context. The only suggestion is that it is a coachbuilt one-off Panhard.
The Autopuzzles site crashed on Sunday, and the editors have been working on the backup files. I don't think we can expect any sort of answer from them for some time.

The wheelbase/floorplan (?) of the 1100 is wrong. Too much space between the front wheel and the cabin - I'm sure it can be tweaked but all variants are similar.
The Fiat 850 is closer:
That one's an Abarth Allemano coupé, FWIW, although it's obviously not exactly right.
The other reason I suggest the 850 as a base is it's rear-engined. The most unusual thing to me about the mystery car is it's low, descending bonnet. I don't think there can be a lot of room in there, given its peers of the time. I could be way off.

I've put the Fiat 1100 Sport Coupe over, and matched the rear as best I can.
I think we are close to cracking the case and getting a conviction.
The Fiat was already mentioned on page 1. The overall shape is fairly close but draw a line downwards from the bottom of the A pillar and look where it intersects; on the Fiat it's very close to the front of the sill, but on the mystery car it's a good 12-18 inches further back on the Fiat, more than a third of the way down the sill.I think we are close to cracking the case and getting a conviction.
I'm genuinely surprised that people seem to miss such significant differences.

We should have looked on page 1 to see that the Fiat had already been suggested.
Just frustrating but fun.
I may have already posted this, but it's on Autopuzzles, and only one suggestion has been proposed. There are no definite leads.
If the members of that forum can't solve it, nobody can. I also reckon it's a one-off, probably homebuilt or made by a small panelbeating outfit - the overall shape is not particularly pleasing, and the workmanship is nowhere near the level of a decent coachbuilder.
