Where can I find an XKSS (replica)?

Time moves on, and I content myself with luxuries like a screen and wipers now:-)
And based on your flick album not only on sunny days , this is the more important, cars are made for be drive, and with a car of 20 Mio is not possible, i have been told for the drive of the Steve one in Jay Leno garage the insurance ask for 60.000$ for 2 hours shooting and drive and they request 2 armed guards with the cars 100% of the time. Who the hell will drive a Sunday afternoon in such condition .... with a replica you can go to the pub with less problem and concern. lowdrag said:
They are beautifully made cars and as said, Lynx used the mechanicals from an E-type but hand-made the bodies in alloy.etc...........
With the so-called provenance of classic racing cars being what it is (Maserati Tipo 61 No 2459 springs to mind), cars with proven continuous history having had unknown numbers of replacement parts over the years and the common practice of chassis numbers being swapped around by manufacturers, even if I had the money I think I would still buy a much cheaper 'continuation' model or quality replica over some 'genuine original' (see also a D-type discussed at length on another thread)Was it Pete Lovely who particularly wanted the ex-Graham Hill Lotus 49b (so that's what Colin Chapman sold him), only to be gutted to find he'd been fobbed off with Jim Clark's instead? Reverting to its proper chassis number it's now worth a bit more than had it been Hill's car!
And the correct voltage regulator too, very nice! Ref the windscreen, the turned over top edge to the passenger side was, if I remember correctly, the correct spec Appendix J screen that came in when full width screens became mandatory. We made both screens but the slightly taller straight screen was what we fitted more often as it made life much more comfortable for the passenger.

the main subject is: Where can I find an XKSS (replica)? , not a topics about wether is good or not to own a replica or any others rant.
Been away for a few days so a late reply. I was well aware that JNH-809 was not looking to buy on of the Jaguar built continuation cars but, as many PH threads do, we had digressed from the thread title to discussing the Jaguar cars rather than those from other replica manufacturers. Apologies if my understanding was not clear.andyps said:

and which the car wore up until getting those newer yellow on black plates in 1963....
Last year I quietly got the DVLA to auction 809 JNH.. The starting price was £500 but I waited and the bidding got to £900. With a minute to go I placed my bid only to receive a message that my bid was entered too late. So someone out there got a bargain. was gutted. Maybe John Norman Henning hasn't a clue just what he's got.

that's the price they ask for, but in real it will be an other story, send them an email with an offer and maybe you can grab it for lower. Just for example i am running about a car be made only in 80ex, currently have one on the market the asked price is 139.000 £ , actually the real owner can let it for less than half because he don't know where and who to sell it, but as i know he is need of cash in rush i expect a little lower , when that will be ok i will grab it and decide what i do with it later ....that's the rule between offert and demand and when you are cash buyer and the money don't burn your pocket almost all cards are in your hand ...
