Not if you're a SAAB enthusiast, it isn't. They stopped in 1993 when the GM influence took over.

Doesn't mean this isn't a fab car, and Per Eklund is a proper legend. But a proper SAAB? No.
You’re quite right !

This was the first of my 5 pre-GM Saabs. I was living in Notting Hill Gate and needed a sensible family car - so a straight private deal swap (in the forecourt of a petrol station on Queensway) took me from a Sunbeam Lotus into this. Culture shock - for the first week I thought “what have I done” but then grew to love it..

It's like an Anglesey for the Southern Hemisphere.

Taupo International Motorsports park . Situated on a volcanic plateau on N.Z's North Island. Evidently a very impressive facility, 2.064 miles in length.

A US photographer, Scottie Cameron, published a series of photo-shopped images depicting “The Year 2084.” An ode to George Orwell’s 1984 apparently, “but a bit more optimistic.”

Vehicle scene below - car styling doesn't appear to have moved on much, but tyre noise is clearly a thing of the past biggrin

I won't be around to see it but great to know that the TR6 and the Saab 900 will be back in production...

Happy Easter everyone.

Another one of Europe’s greatest driving roads. Twixt Switzerland and Italy the Splugen pass. It rises to a maximum altitude of either 2113 or 2114 metres (depending on source)- we’ll take both.

It was a favourite of Mary Shelley who was a great road trip enthusiast.

The magnificent Aston Martin DP214. Was it the first car to crack 300kph on the Mulsanne ? Depends on who you speak to, but definitely either the DP or the Ferrari 330LM.

Weight 2121 lbs.

A magnificent beast. Allard J2, chassis 2123. Looking like an Allard should :

Off on a tangent, but why not. It involves a personal hero of mine.

Another Allard J2, prepared by Sussex art teacher James Augustus Tiller, returned to Bonneville some half a century later.

The lightly modified car (ahem), managed a terminal speed of 165mph, crossing the timing line backwards after the execution of a perfect 540 deg. spin. Having gathered thoughts and underwear together Jim then ran a more conventional run and topped out at 197mph…

Respect.

Between '63 and '66 this Shelby Cobra had a busy life in top-level motorsport, Gurney & Miles being 2 of its top-notch conductors.

The sublime CSX 2128.

2137 - could be another CSX - the "Le Mans Cobra" that never got the chance to eat burnt Merguez or drink lukewarm Muscadet (it didn't make it to France).

However we'll go for the rather terrifying RS200 Evo, equipped with a BDT stretched to 2137cc.

In UK motorsport history few racing cars were more successful than the Moskvich 412.

From this car evolved the even faster and more luxurious 2140. I think nappy brown set if off nicely :

Sean Connery became the proud owner of this Jensen CV8 chassis# 104/2158 in 1967.

Interestingly he could have bought a DB5 for the same sort of money but, as a Celtic supporter, the green Jensen won the day.

The Holden straight six 2160cc “grey” engine. Known as such because the block was painted grey - well that’s logical and helped distinguish it from Holden’s red, blue & black engines.

If BMC did a reconditioned version would it be a grey seal (a joke for the older PH’ers).

Air cooled VW engines, plenty of scope for stroking/boring to give some serious hp. One of the more popular capacities - 2165cc..
