Before the page turns for good I just wanted to say what a pleasure it has been for the thread to open on that lovely yellow Cortina. Its stance on the road is perfect and even those non standard wheels suit it really well.

A 1967 Lotus Elan in a garage in Melksham for a tickle up.

A couple owned it from new but haven't used it for ten years. The husband has recently died and his widow put it in to the garage that looked after their other cars to fettle it for selling. The dealer thought he'd offer a few thousand but decided to check before he said anything. Twenty grand in this state, thirty in good order. He said it had done 4,000 miles. If it has, its life comprised a multitude of short journeys.

When my mates and I first owned cars a hotted - up Mini, Anglia or Imp moved you up a league. If you had owned a Lotus Elan you would have been a god. You would have been well on the way with a 1558 Lotus twin cam engine in your Anglebox.

It now looks like quite a lot of ironmongery for a 1.5 litre 8 valve engine.

Saw this in Farnborough yesterday, didn't like the wheels though
Not the best style for a Series One.
Those are Mach 5 which Matt Lee makes, easy to clean mud out of and judging by the presence of the roll-hoop I would guess that this 80" is used for trialling.

That is miles better than being a trailer queen!

Not a bad line up for a local
Crouch End. Often a few interesting things in there. That XJR has been there for years and there was a Jaguar Mk 2 there for some time.

Indeed - opposite the bus stop I use every day so always fun to see what's in. There is also a Beetle and a 900 turbo round the side that haven't moved for years - the XJR occasionally switches sides but not sure whether under its own power.

A good few years back MEB next to Kwikfit used to be run by a lovely chap called Max who had a beautiful 1930's Bentley (4.5 I think) - the first time I went in he was busy rebuilding a Bristol 405 convertible. Unfortunately he retired very shortly after I bought a Lancia Gamma - I suspect the two events were not unrelated...

I think i'd have bothered to get it painted and polished before taking it to a meet.
You can't polish a turd. No way that's on the right thread!

He did. Last time he went awol (for several months) he claimed to have forgotten about the existence of PH completely. So, he could discover it again at any moment. Or not...

And seen quite a few others today - an early 911 in what looked like National Bus Company green, a pale blue Beetle, a VW estate that I can never remember the model for, and a 3-door Sierra Cosworth.
