Very good. Only the URL on the lorry cab gives that away as being new.

If that was an older truck you could easily say that was a proper period picture!

I think he means the Chimaera, the Toyota and the Porsche.

Does it have to be 100% period correct?

You can get fake sideburns and "Pancho Villa" moustaches from joke shops - the flares and kipper ties are to be found in charity shops. Mini skirts have always been in fashion.

I'm sorry to have been a pedant. It just didn't look "right", that's all. A bit of vaseline on the lens works wonders. (Whoops! Freudian slip.)

Obviously the standard in this thread is increasing - if you look at some of the first ones posted including the one by the originator of the tread one could pick holes in most of them. You're a hard taskmaster Nicanary hehe

I see what you mean. They're just modern photos made to look like sepia. Weird. How can that qualify as period-looking? More like old-looking, which isn't the same thing in my book. Just rub some dirt and cold tea on everything, to make it look antique.

Some recent efforts have been very good, with images carefully chosen to match cars with period buildings, and surroundings. I thought that was the point of the thread.

Doesn't really matter, I suppose. Any pic of a classic is a good pic.

PS I've just seen your own photo of your DB MkIII in Dec 2010, and that's a cracker. Exactly what this thread should be about IMO, and I'm not just trying to suck up to you.)

from the era when rallying was RALLYING - and driver/codriver were HEROS - and when I only had a pathetic camera [sorry about that bit]
See what can be done with a little research? These rally recreation photos are fantastic. Looks just like Abernant on the 1977 RAC! hehe

No worries - will have a look through the archives and up my game. I'm enjoying it far too much.
