Help identifying a strange little car

The proportions are all wrong. Just look at the relative distance between the front wheel and the door for a start.

I have claimed in the past that it's probably a one-off built by a local enthusiast, because in my eyes the quality of workmanship looks pretty unprofessional.

However, French garagistes could produce good stuff - here's an example I've found in an old copy of Motor Sport, which DSJ came across in Albi. He was quite impressed. I KNOW IT'S NOT THE CAR IN QUESTION! I just thought it would show what can be built in a small workshop.



PS I've just found out that this car is an MEP - 7 were built. The builder was Maurice-Emile Pezous who was Citroen dealker in Albi and he later built a series of single-seat cars suitable for low-cost "starter" racing.

No its not. In half a second you can tell the front arches are wrong and the quarter lights are wrong.
It doesn't help to post any 1950's coupe, (which is what seems to be happening) superficially they all look alike just like 1990's hatches all look alike superficially. The devil is in the detail.

Is it some sort of saab, the bonnet feature and the square rear arch is what lead me down this route!

Front window is not quite right, and the front arches on saabs seem to be quite boxy!

Fiat 1100 tv pininfarina coupè is similar but rear window is different
