ucked in front of a red, beige and white truck/van/bus type thing on the right of the picture? No?
I'd have said that was a Ford Pinto.
Ah yes, you're right

A few from me. None of the cars are particularly 'worthy', but they're just the sort of thing I like:

Great George Street, London 1979 + traffic by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Apparently the Rover lasted until 1989. I am in this photo as a rather less handsome 9yr old...

Country Show Up North, c. 1987/88 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Car variety in Appleby-in-Westmorland c.1987/88 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Wonder if anyone can guess what the white convertible is in the bottom photo? I didn't go on either of these holidays, I have just become the recipient for all family photos that contain cars.

1976 Ford Capri and Monza caravan in Wales, 1977 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

How we holidayed in the '70s, with a caravan hired for the week. I recall spending time in the boot of a Cortina Mk3 helping to fit a towbar.

Daking Avenue, Boxford in the snow c.1979 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I cycled into the back of that Moskvich once when I was distracted...

Cortinas and Civic in the snow, Boxford c.1979 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

A friend owns both a Mk3 Cortina and a Honda Civic nowadays. The Mk4 Cortina was my dad's company car. I remember very rusty front wings on the neighbour's Mk3, the car was oddly replaced with a quite smart 2dr Mk1 Cortina which seemed pretty ancient even by the standards of the early '80s.

1965 Morris Oxford at 21 Runsell View, Danbury c.1970 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

I love this shot of my grandparents' Oxford outside their nearly-new bungalow.

1979 Morris Marina 1.7HL (#4) + Alpine at Mexborough, early 1980s by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

1982 Ford Sierra 1.6L at Montagu Street, Mexborough early 1980s by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

A couple more of my grandad's. The Sierra is a fairly early one with dangly mirrors. By this time he was Transport Manager at Marconi, though he was the least car-minded person you can imagine. Got me lots of brochures though...

More to come at some point soon.

Something a bit harder this time, and looking at the original won't give you any clues! This photo from my mum and dad's honeymoon...

Lancaster Gate, London 1967 by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

The old car behind the grey Mini - Morris 8 or some sort of special based on one?

I vaguely recall something about certain states requiring license plates to be carried only on the rear of the vehicle, and in which cases cars are required to be parked nose-in to parking spaces so officers of the fuzz can read license plates as they drive past.

Dunno really, but great photo - as are all those over the last few pages.

Blenheim Court, on the corner of Bayswater Road and Lancaster Gate. The building looks out on to Kensington Gardens.

BMC 1100, Mini Estate, Herald Convertible and 2-door Saloon, Volkswagen, Morris 8 Tourer Series 1 (1935-37), Mini Mk1 and the back end of an Thames (Anglia) van.

Hi Morf, Great photo collection,
This photo is taken of the Shakespeare Hotel in my home town, Stratford upon Avon, and I reckon that is my Aunt's Ford Anglia parked outside. I presume thats your folks moggy squeezed in between it and a Triumph Herald.

Edited by S2Mike on Friday 2nd May 13:51
It would have been great if it was our moggy (two PHer's relatives' cars on one old photo) but sadly it's not, it's just a random moggy that happened to be there. frown

Could be a '34 Morris Minor 2 seater tourer with that hood shape and door line.....

I've started to scan my old negatives, so hopefully there will be some more goodies to post on here shortly.

In the meantime, I couldn't resist this one - Blackpool Motorcycle Club Sprint, 1982...

"Is that a kickstart in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"
