Taken at a classic car meeting in around 1971 at Hockley Heath
Me proudly driving my 4 year old Dolomite 1500HL in 1981 Bridge Street Stratford on Avon.
1982 my workplace Stratford on Avon
Turning the clock back to 1972 and a visit to Blackpool. Note the triprint high tech idea.
1972 back home and view from my parents house, extra points for identifying cars under the snow

Great picture, do you know anything about the bike? The tank looks like an add on special, apart from that, not much, big V twin
My grandfather did his courting on it, driving/riding from Leeds to Swansea overnight Friday/Saturday. They got married in 1921. She apparently would ride it but never learned to drive a car.
There is a family tale that he parked it next to a field in Ossett, where a cow ate the saddle and died.
My grandfather rode home on the springs after refusing to pay the farmer for the cow unless he got the carcass.

I believe it was a BAT, made in Penge, went bust in 1926

I initially thought it was a NUT (Newcastle Upon Tyne) as they were well known for their round tank. Engine didn't look right though so I wondered about Martynside, but they were generally two-tone. The tank looks like an add on special, apart from that, not much, big V twin

Hadn't thought about BAT, but having looked at this I'm sure you're right! Love the story about the saddle
Any more pictures of it?

I know it isn’t a car and I hope you don’t mind but I do like this thread and the really old photos, and the bike boys don’t have a section like this.
This is my mum and dad, dad is 3rd from the right and mum is next to him on the left, taken circa 1957.
Points for the bikes and fluffy toy if you get the location.
It must be in the family as the other one is my Granddad, in the middle,( dad’s dad ) and my Nan’s relations.
Notice correct period head wear and shirt and tie, all essential wear in 30’s
We have we think the bike models, so if you want to have a go.

Yes it is, he bought it new I believe in 1957, then sold it in 1958 I think when I was born and he went into the RN.is still taxed, so its had a good innings!
Roll on 56 years later or so when my son was 5 ish, he see's an advert for an Areil for sale, quick phone call confirms it was his. Few months later its back at home and now a family heirloom.

Sorry didn't mean to, glad you like it.
He has ridden the bike but now say's its a bit too heavy at 76 ( hope you dont mind me giving away your age dad) so he sticks to the Harley ;-)
An old chap local to me growing up was one of the original 'Pendine Racers' (he is in several photos at the Museum of Speed where 'Babs' is kept). Ben was a friend of my Dad's and a talented engineer. In his later years he rode a Square Four. When it got too heavy for him, he disappeared into the garage for about a month, and the next thing we knew, he'd fabricated a lovely sidecar for it. Then when he started having trouble starting it, he converted it to electric start, and baffled other classic motorcycle owners as to how he'd done it so discretely. He carried on riding it almost right up until he was admitted to hospital, never to leave He has ridden the bike but now say's its a bit too heavy at 76 ( hope you dont mind me giving away your age dad) so he sticks to the Harley ;-)

From left: Norton ES2, AJS 16/18M (depends on whether it's a 350 or 500cc), Ariel Huntmaster, Royal Enfield Bullet is my guess!460dave said:
That's a tougher one, not being able to see the tanks or engines I reckon far left looks quite heavyweight, so maybe a big Enfield twin? Then a BSA, an Ariel (looks to be a twin port?), the right hand pair I can't really get - looks like they're the same though? They also look slightly older and something is saying Zenith or something odd like that, but I don't know why really
