Wow, that really brings back memories. I had one of the eight original Mk2 press launch cars as a company car once its press duties were done. It was Mars Red and on an 'A' plate with plain bumpers and a single exhaust, as you have mentioned. I'd forgotten how bright the interior stripey bits were.

My Safari at the most depressing part of a resto.The one you look at and thing and think it will never become a car again.
A lot of new metal has already been added, but still loads more to be changed, icluding floors, front to back.
