I'm hedging my bets here, but as your elder it's time to stop beeching about things and stump up.

We need to stop this, I think it's sapping everyone's energy.

You're barking up the wrong tree there, I'm afraid!

This has been rescued form a tunnel at Longbridge it has since had the roof strightened and is apparently going to be auctioned as a resteration project. It has divided opinion in the Mini world many myself included feel it should have been left as it was an put in a museum as a peice of history it was the last Mini to leave Longbridge and as such should be preserved as it left the facory.

I am normally all for restoring classic cars and getting them back on the road but to me this one should be left.
How on earth do they even begin to straighten out a roof like that !

I believe they were leaf sprung front and rear.

This one was obviously serviced at the local Ford branch.

How long would it take to get like that? Sixty years? More?

Where abouts is this? Looks like Lake District, but would be interesting to know more.

Very carefully I would have thought I saw it at a show earlier in the year and it appeared to be the orignal roof

I'd guess at least 40 years in the open.

I remember a Vauxhall PA Cresta being abandoned near woods close by where I live in the mid 1970s - car was about 100metres from the sea on a shingle bank. By around 1993 all that was left was an engine and running gear sitting in a pile of crumbly rust with seat-springs on the top. Bodywork had completely rotted away to rust flakes. Car was completely unrecognisable as the windows and lights had all been smashed at some point. Would have been a bit of a resto challenge for someone.

Oh, as for Ford Poplar - it could really do with a bit of a spruce up now before the damage gets too bad.

Just after Stirling Moss took delivery of his car Mike Hawthorn bought one too.

She did - it started to rot so she thought she'd nip it in the bud and had it resprayed in Silver Birch. It kept wearing out suspension bushes tho. It was at Goodwood last year along with Ronnie's old car which was full of ash.
