I know we're not supposed to post show pics in here, but in keeping with the Espada theme, saw this one on Sunday.

A bit of googling shows it was red prior to going up for sale last year.
I wonder what the original colour was?
RED
According to that auction listing, it as originally blue, then it was repainted red. So it has been returned to its original colour...

Just to add to the Espada love-in. This beauty was on our ferry to the Le Mans Classic earlier in the year.

Looking by how the Espada is sitting at the rear, it's got a well packed boot.

Oh for the days when you could pick one up for less than £10k...

Wow, did they really go as low as that? How long ago?

Oh yes. I can remember in the late 70s when a local small builder used one as his daily (funnily enough it was metallic blue) and we'd frequently see him around Wolstanton in Staffordshire. His premises were down a road of terraced houses and even then seemed odd seeing a car like that in such a location.

There was also a lad at our school whose Dad used a DB6 as a daily driver bought for less than my Dad paid for his new Mk2 Granada. They were just used, abused and when something broke if they couldn't be fixed on the cheap were sold for scrap, parts or to someone else whose ambition exceeded the size of their wallet.

As low as that ... I can't remember how long ago but mid-80s possibly. They used to pop up in ads in the back of C&SC normally. 10k was still decent money back then but affordable (just) ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought £10k was the price new in '68. I seem to remember seeing one secondhand for 5K, but in those days, that was several YEARS wages!

$19k when new in 1973 according to this, so not far off.

Seems like a good time to dig up the legendary "£17k Ferrari 456" thread - the guy who bought it 4 years ago has still got it, and has been rewarded for his bravery with a chunky increase in value.

Early to mid 90s - that's old enough for me! It's a Delta not a Dedra, right? Assume it's some kind of grey import.

Nice looking hatch. Shame we didn't get it in the UK, but I guess it was too similar to the Alfa 145/146.
