I don't think I have found a definitive answer yet.
Strange that it caused barely a ripple on that site! "Yeah it some Panhard special" and move on!I don't think I have found a definitive answer yet.
Amazing forum that, it makes Pistonheads seem like a quiet little backwater.

Why post that without any comment? Its not like the mystery car at all
I thought it looked like it, but obviously you know better!Proportions are totally different, glazing is totally different, roof line is totally different, subject car doesn't have vents on the front wing etc

Yes because I have eyes!

It's also been suggested, and rejected for the above reasons numerous times in the thread. I'm pretty convinced it's a special, so no perfect match will be found.Proportions are totally different, glazing is totally different, roof line is totally different, subject car doesn't have vents on the front wing etc
Simca 1200s. .? Although in the original pic the rear quarters look a bit bigger (slope off roof)
But the rear wheel arch is squarer than the front as is the simca. And has what appear to be round headlights..

Anyway.... eeergh..
A special does seem most likely. My Dad built a special in the late 1950's, it also looks a bit like lots of things but exactly like nothing. His was donor chassis, engeine, windscreen doors and bonnet, the rest was unique.
Note - its not my Dad's special either, te bonnet line is wrong

You can see why it barely caused a ripple - even delving into the rabbit hole of Panhard specials produced by one company (Deutsch-Bonnet) you get hundreds of images of cars that are very similar to each other but with small changes here and there.Amazing forum that, it makes Pistonheads seem like a quiet little backwater.
Here's another link to a car that it's almost similar to

Oh no, not that little bd of a car, its bad enough still not knowing what the other one in London on the Classic forum isn't!
It's funny though, given the truly vast accumulated knowledge of PH (and many many others that have contributed from C&SC and god knows where else) that we still have 2 very different cars that no one really has identified further than (highly) educated guesses.

I’m sure that’s the same person that’s standing in front of said mystery car. Someone will be along to rap your knuckles shortly Maybe it's the TARDIS, the Doctor clearly wouldn't have landed a UK police box in a small square in France.... The story goes.... 'In the early days it was established that the TARDIS usually changed its exterior appearance on each trip to blend in with its surroundings. The Doctor later stated that it was the broken chameleon circuit that caused it to be stuck in the shape of an old style police box'
So, could have been the Doctor appearing briefly to pick up some cheese and a baguette..... Would explain the mystery surrounding it

ZETA ZS - posts up to January 2016 - came across these posts this weekend.
Can any one help?? We have been trying to locate this car for years. It was built in Langley 1971 by my father, based on a 1200 beetle chassis donated from nearly new beetle which had been rolled. Any info on where it is now would be really appreciated.
