Why is it that people will store a car for decades, in a barn or garage, or outside under a lean to or a cover, but they leave the windows open?
It seems to me that every barn find would have a mint interior, if someone, anyone over the decades would've wound the bloody windows up!
Maybe it was up, but at some point over the decades it has dropped....?It seems to me that every barn find would have a mint interior, if someone, anyone over the decades would've wound the bloody windows up!

I came across these on I farm I was at. . The farmer didn't know the story of the Morris, but the older car was his grandparents which they had from new. One day is hopefully going to restore it. How sad
The Austin 7 looks in pretty good nick to me, (there is an identical one that has never been restored in my garage at the moment). Easy cars to restore once the body is sorted and most bits are available new if needed.Edited by alangtt on Sunday 6th April 10:12
I reckon a careful clean and a bit of fiddling that would be up and running quite quickly.

Air suspension failure?
I'd imagine so - very common problem on those carsAir suspension failure?

My phone actually autocorrected that. I clearly order too many kebabs Balmoral said:

Any car I've left in a garage over a winter with the windows up has started to grow mould on the interior. It seems to me that every barn find would have a mint interior, if someone, anyone over the decades would've wound the bloody windows up!

It's a Peerless/Warwick - incidentally, the first car to introduce the Buick 215 V8 to these shores, before Rover bought it (although only a handful of examples were made - most used Triumph straight sixes).Cliftonite said:
That reply took all of five minutes! What kept you?
Initially I rather thought it must be a Bristol, but I Googled it and realised it couldn't be. Second thought was a Gordon-Keeble, but that had a more modern wrap-around front windscreen. However, the G-K was created by the same chap as the Peerless/Warwick and I instantly thought of that and bingo!Oh, and they're as rare as rocking unicorn st - so that's definitely worth rescuing.
It would appear to be relatively simple (if potentially expensive ) to rescue too, given that complete chassis and replacement shells are available from/via here...

Yeah, but then you may as well just build a new one, surely...http://www.peerless-gt.co.uk/

Not classics, but these didn't looked like they'd moved in a very long time. I assume they're being used as doner cars for parts. They were newer and lower mileage than my XJ!

It's a Jag specialist, not a breakers as far as I'm aware. I was planning on asking them about the xenons on the 2007 one, but after spending a fortune on mine I decided not to bother. I can PM you the name of the place if you want, don't want to post it online in case the 3.14keys see it i'm,looking,for,new,wheels,for,my,XJR,(x350)........i'm,guessing,this,is,a,jag,breakers??
