That's a very good idea. I think best case scenario is to give it another 4-6 weeks to see how many we can attract just from PH. If we hit a target than all is well, if not maybe a few of us can chase up other forums we use to see if we can drum up the required extra.

BH is rather poorly situated for a 'central' track.

Just a note to be aware of; if it's on the 10th May it would clash with Alfa's 50th anniversary track day, which might thin the Alfa's out a bit.

Firstly, I don't think we should take any notice of anyone that says the track is too far away, I'm on the South coast, if it turns out to be Knockhill I'm still coming.

Second, I should be considered a complete novice, the car is fairly rare and tricky to repair, so a track with big run off areas might be a good idea. However I don't expect that to be to the detriment of those that are more experienced.

Third, not everyone who says they are coming will make it. I guess the actual number that turn up on the day will be half to two thirds.

Fourth, get money up front from people. Don't accept any nonsense like 'not sure if I can make it, may arrive on the day'.

Fifth, let's all have a big feed together afterwards and drive home into the night.

Huntsman, yes, agree completely with all that.

This is only going to work one way - about 6-8 weeks before the event everyone will have to commit and pay for their place upfront. As much as I'd like to wager £12k+ of my own cash on a 'maybe' I won't be.

In other news I think it would be really terrific if we could get this up to 50 or more attendees so we can take an entire day somewhere. That being the case I think we should open up the car criteria a bit, perhaps something like:

Up to 1980
Up to 1993

If that works we can have one group out at a time. As it would be open pit action we'd have to manage that ourselves, probably doing 30 or 60 minute sessions.

Sound reasonable ish?

I think that 30 minute sessions would be too much for most people and too much for their cars.

If you can't get the numbers to make up an earlier dateline single group open pit lane event,
I think that 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off would be better than 30 for a two group event.

I didn't explain it very well. What I meant was like this for example:

10.00 - 10.30 - group 1 open pit
10.30 - 11.00 - group 2 open pit

There is no pressure for any car to run for the full 30 minutes, they can do as they please during their allotted time, but it means we keep away a 69 Elan from a 1986 BMW for example meaning closing speeds are not too extreme.

In reality I suspect that we'll probably get up to about 30 people and with that we'll approach a number of track day organisers to see what they have available on dates that work for the group.

The idea of having an entire circuit to ourselves is epic but I suspect it is around 30/70 against at present.
