I don’t mind that green at all on that S3 - of its time. Interior looks in good nick. I was at the classics auction in Kings Lynn today and saw a few Jags/Daimlers go through …
That £45k-on-ebay Jag 420G was glorious in the flesh … ticked over a treat on the drive in and made £19,750 plus fees …
The most gorgeous ‘65 Mk2 3.8 with a manual box went through - this has a forty-grand restoration a couple of years ago and had been advertised for £25k prior to the auction. It sold for £16,500 plus fees. Mad.
The Mk10 in green didn’t reach reserve … not sold so the ACA site said. Likewise the XJ-C 4.2 in red which looked a solid car up close.
The pick of Saturday’s Jags was this Daimler vP 4.2 which was bid to £4400, but then sold after the auction for £5200 plus fees. Saw the car today - looked a bargain at that price!

- Fees are 8% of the purchase price
What did he get for it? You only have to go back 2/3 years and you see auction results where the coupes made £20k or less. Now they all seem to be £25k+ … I thought the market had taken a hit of late?
On another tack, is this ‘Lavender’ car too bright? Not sure where they’ve enhanced the colour in PShop or it’s been resprayed in a more vibrant version …
Nicked off the ‘net, this is how I remember the colour … this is actually the same car, which sold in 2011 (pre-respray) for, wait for it, £1495 …

A great project for somebody! Grille badge says 3.8 but it comes up on the DVLA site as a 2.4... S3 XJ6 4.2 coming up at the NEC show in March, I like the cloth seats...

I know this car very well, I even considered buying it. It was owned by a really nice 'old boy (gent!) who used to have a garage in London before he retired. His collection included this 2.4 along with several other Jags. He sold all of them eighteen months ago with Anglia Car Auctions.I think it's a nice car and wouldn't be too labour intensive , just the usual culprits (crows feet etc) - the engine is super sweet.

Tidy by the looks of it - unusual shade of blue though, I suspect it may have been midnight blue or opalesceant blue originally.
Yep, not an original Jaguar colour for a S-Type. Looks like the blue seen on early 70's Triumphs? With the light grey interior, I'd guess most likely a dark colour originally. Its been done everywhere, as in boot as well etc. Shame, as it looks so out of place on a S-Type.

I do like the Series 1 VdPs and that does look good, although I'm not sure what colour it is. It's not one of the 'special' VdP colours; it looks silver, although a couple of door posts look light blue? Early straight exhaust as well, which it wouldn't have had originally.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
