So anyway 30 years or so ago driving towards Cookham and I see this car, well...... I had my camera with me so what's a guy ment to do. I parked in the road and walked up the drive, as I recall a rather good looking woman got out and I asked if I could take some pictures (of the car hee hee !!) She said OK but they were not to appear in any mags or the like as this was the only one in the country (I think her husband worked at BMW)

So here we are 30 years later and I feel I can share them with you guys as the car is fairly old news now !!

Hope they are still as interesting now as they were to me then.

Thanks For Looking

Alan M

It looks like an Orig "BAT CSL", all the "Bat" Cars were L.Hand Drive and it has the MotorSport Stripes instead of the Std CSL" Tiger Stripes ".
Bats were useually painted Polaris Silver or Chamonix White.

Horrifically expensive when new, something like over 8 Grand. A standard CSL was listed @ £7,399 in June 73, although many were heavily discounted to shift them.
Celebrity CSL owners included, Norman Wisdom, Victor Gauntlet who apparently had 2.
Anyone add to this list ?

This White BAT was featured in the Sadly Long Defunct Fast Car Magazine, In 1974 . They raved about it, calling it "DER ULTRA SUPER WAGEN"

I guess my 30 or so years must have been closer to nearly 40 or so cos it was brand spanking new at the time.

Damn I must be older than I thought !!

Have spoken to a mate at BMW UK in Bracknell and they still own this Reg No. and it is on a Silver Batmobile.

A CSL was displayed by BMW at the BMW Bracknell Sunday Service meeting last year. The same car I would guess?

Still looks stunning...

My guess is that the car at Bracknell is the same one that was displayed at BMW Park Lane for a week or so last October:

Beautiful car.

Am I the only one on here to be a bit disappointed? I hoped I was going to get to the end of the story to find that 30 years later, the OP had tracked the car down and bought it!
