Am attending Goodwood Members Meeting and Revival and Donington Historic this year and will probably also do a couple of other UK events.

Also looking at an overseas trip. Have previously visited Le Mans Classic and Spa Classic. I would do both again but are there any other events that people here would particularly recommend?

I did Angouleme in France a couple of years ago, I really enjoyed it. Its very French but in a good way and quite traditional, but again in a good way. I would recommend it if you like Classic Le Mans etc.

Most all the main circuits in Europe have a "Spa Historic" type of weekend, but Dijon & The Nurburgring are especially good events.

There's also Caen, Montlhery, Magny Cours, Zandvoort, Laon & farther away ..... Jerez, Monza, Portimao & Porto. There are others as well, you're spoilt for choice really.

As has been suggested Angouleme, is a super event (but if you want a hotel in the old town then expect to pay a lot .... if you can find a room - there are hotels within walking distance .... but it's a very steep 30 minute climb & you need a beer halfway up ...... & when you get to the top!)

Done all of these over recent years.

You can stay in the town & walk to the event.

Edit - I had entered the Elan, buy unfortunately broke a leg a few weeks before the event in 2010, so we were just spectators only! I think that it is even bigger now.

The Rally de Jonquilles is also great! We did the year when it started from Arras.

Edit - my Lotus Elan was parked off to the left of the pic shown!

A meeting I want tick off is the Solitude Revival.
http://www.solitude-revival.org/

And the Reims Weekend de L'excellence
http://www.depamelli.com/racing-1/week-end-de-l-ex...
Been to Gueux, driven the remaining track, would be good to see it populated by cars from the day.

Both at old road circuits, no actual racing, but seem to attract some wonderful motors.

A few of us PHers do the Rally de Jonquilles, it's a simple navigational rally around Northern France. There's a great crowd, interesting cars and it's all good fun.

My write up from 2014 in a 968 here and 2015 in a Morgan here.

Typical turnout:

I fell in love with this:

It's £70 to enter this year, start point an hour from Calais.
Rich are you going this year? All seems very quiet on the Events thread.

We live twenty minutes from Angouleme and go most years. It's a great spectacle with some proper tight racing. On the Saturday there is the rally which takes up most of the day and anyone can enter. It takes a great scenic route around the Charente and includes "refreshments!". I'm hoping to race for the first time this year so looking forward to it more than usual. Be warned though that seats in the stands, or tribunes as they are called over here, are only available by pre booking online and sell out well in advance. Also the weather is almost always very hot so come prepared. There is always a contingent of pale Brits busy keeling over from the heat and dehydration, so bring a hat and sun cream.

I certainly agree with the recommendations of Angouleme; good racing and great atmosphere in the town.
Another one we've done twice is the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or which is now at Dijon. Again, good racing, a wide varied entry and a sizeable contingent of drivers from the UK. We hitched a ride on the parade (drive as fast as you can)laps with a French car club and the whole thing was really enjoyable. It was surprising that there weren't that many spectators but perhaps that's because Dijon is a bit remote; it was busier when we went to the same event at Montlhery.
We stayed in the village of Gevry Chambertin and it was a pleasant drive in each day.

Yes, I am. Haven't paid yet but will do so soon. Can't decide which car to take though. See you there?
I'm planning to take my Renault Dauphine. I'm going to head over on Saturday morning, not sure yet about the return. I have not looked at hotels as yet. Let me know what you decide.

Enjoyed those write ups. Looks like it is full for this year but will add it to the list for next year.

I have entered the Jonquilles this year in my Dinalpin, have done it for last 2 years in the Morgan that is in the bottom left corner of that photo.

Also have a look here http://www.vcrr.eu/entry-list-3/ should be a good event and is timed so that you can then visit the Spa Race should you so wish. I have also entered their Spring event.
