Anyone own a well known car from a tv series or film?
Discussion
Another car from the PERSUADERS : Here is my 1967 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow mk 1 which appeared in the episode " it's me over there " It must have been the only Silver Shadow seen in this series.
Have a look in the section " Classic cars of yesterday's heroes " to find out in which numerous series it appeared in ! ( The Avengers, MINDER, Dr Who, The Professionals....)

I very nearly bought the Volvo Amazon owned by the vampire in Being Human. It is amazing what they can do on TV, the car looked amazing on the show, in reality it was a rusty heap needing serious work.
I've heard that a few famous TV cars were, in fact, pretty grotty heaps up close. Bergerac's Triumph roadster and Morse's Jaguar spring to mind. I think they both needed extensive restoration after being sold off when filming finished.Goodness knows what Colombo's Peugeot must really have been like

I heard Morse's Jag often had to be pushed into position on set and was generally hated by most of the crew.Goodness knows what Colombo's Peugeot must really have been like

On a different note. My main car was once on Crimestoppers.

Ah yes, 221400.MO (the 'MO' component represents the city of Modena).
The exact whereabouts of the Dino today is unknown, but it is reliably believed to be alive and well in Italy with a private owner![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
In Classic and Sportscar this months issue there is a report on Villa D'Este which youThe exact whereabouts of the Dino today is unknown, but it is reliably believed to be alive and well in Italy with a private owner

had an invite to and the Dino is mentioned as "the owner is not interested in the TV
connection".
Your car is in a pic behind the Bond DB5 too your Lordship.
Back in the early 90s I went to look at this XR3i, the one driven by Pierce Brosnan in The Fourth Protocol.
It was a very early mk4 on a C plate, so one of the first and was painted in the cabriolet only colour of Azure blue. It was advertised as the car from the film but was not being sold for a premium. I went and had a look but was put off by the camera mount holes covered by rubber gromets that were over the door panel and front wing.
Regret not getting it to this day as I'm a huge Bond fan and this would have eventually been the closest I got to one of Bond's cars!

.
I worked on a number of episodes of Morse and in my experience what you heard is not true .

"However, just as it looked as though Morse and Lewis would have to weave through Oxford's apparently corpse-littered streets on a tandem, someone spotted an old Jaguar 2.4 MkII at a scrapyard.
A couple of hundred quid changed hands, and after some superficial tarting up (the camera always lies) an inadvertent star was born.
It's no surprise that a machine virtually snatched from the jaws of a crusher frequently caused problems during filming.
John Thaw admitted the Jag was "a beggar to drive" at the best of times.
After 15 years of cosmetic bodging the car was as close to death as its master, and often had to be pushed or towed into position while on location."
And this Pistonheads story is also untrue? (From: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=226... ):
" In May 2002, the car underwent a "nut and bolt restoration" costing over £100,000, transforming it from the unreliable car that Morse actor John Thaw described as "a beggar to drive", into near-mint condition.
In addition, the restorers' notes prior to the job said that: "Although the Inspector Morse Jaguar was driveable when it was delivered to us and it looked reasonably presentable it was in fact in very poor condition. The bodywork had been patched and cosmetically enhanced with liberal amounts of plastic filler three quarters of an inch thick in places! Mechanically the car was tired out with the majority of components in need of replacement or overhaul."
Interesting!

Admittedly not film-related, I'm merely confirming peoples' "that's a car registered to the press Office!" thoughts on seeing the KWC registration mark suffix

And The Fourth Protocol?

Notwithstanding, so often the cars specifically chosen for use in films and TV series are given 'false' plates which makes later tracing of them difficult
![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)
Then there were odd things done with insulation tape on The Professionals where Cowley's [oh, the irony!] 'Sandglow' Princess registered MOC 229R (from memory
