I bought a brand new Triumph Spitfire Mk 4 in Pimento red first reg 1st January 1973, and had black and silver mirrorline plates fitted.Strictly speaking these were illegal because the black and white/ black and silver plates finished the day before, although I was never stopped, as the car could have been registered in August 1972 with a "L" plate.
