be visible on the vehicle?

According to everything I've read, including this page from Autocar ( http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/all-cha... ) you can remove the tax disc if you have any months remaining - the law that requires you to display a tax disc has been removed from today.
I believe that the similar law that prevents you from displaying anything that looks like a tax disc but isn't - for example a historic tax disc - has also been removed.

if your paper tax disc is still current, i.e. runs out after 30/9/14 then it should be displayed in the rear window until it expires

what if you dont have a rear window?
it's a transitory measure until all tax discs have expiredprovisions have to be made by yourself - a tax disc holder, rather like those on motorbikes, has to be permanently fixed to the rear deck of the car

So if i fix a motorbike to the rear deck of my car (and the tax disc is attached to that), I'll be ok?
no that would obstruct rearward visionbut I suppose if you put it so that you could still see out of one or more external mirrors then that might be OK - but I'm no legal expert

Yes, but it was so obvious it was a waste of bandwidth, then you repeated yourself.
yes, trying not to upset the ancient befuddled minds that frequent this forum, some believe any old twaddle they read - ethanol, ZDDP, lead, octane, EU/DVLA/Government got it in for them personally, I have to allow for these sensitive and fragile minds nta16 said:
BUT - (little known fact)

Seriously, this is the most pathetic thread in a long time.if your paper tax disc is still current, i.e. runs out after 30/9/14 then it should be displayed in the rear window until it expires
