I thought I would just start a thread in this car in case the present owner Googles their number plate and makes contact.

I would be interested in finding the current owner. It was my grandfather's car from new and then mine when he stopped driving in the mid 90s. I eventually sold it through Gerry Marshall but have always wondered what happened to it.

It was a car I spent a lot of time cleaning as a child and when it was given to me it inspired my first trip the Le Mans and I did a couple of classic rallies in with my father.

I happened to check it today and noticed it was still taxed etc so hopefully it's being enjoyed.

He was a childhood friend of my father's and started his racing with my dad's cars and was soon faster than him. I always bought and sold my cars through him and it was actually a bit sad when I bought the Typhon as it was the first car transaction I'd done as an adult without him being there, if only to save me a few K on the price.

Wow. Is there a web link? It might be shagged by now. It had about 27k on the clock when I sold it but even though it had been garaged every day of its life it had rot in the wings around the front lamps and in the sills.

It looks exactly as I sold it. Even down to the AA badge and the brdc sticker, although I think the ecurie ecosse one is an addition.

It also looks like it hasn't travelled far as that style of house looks very North London suburbs to me.

True. But going bidding for a car you're emotionally attached to is suicide and living in London I have no space for it.

Very true. However, I spoke to my father about it at the weekend and he did enlighten me as to how much he had spent on it while his father owned it and then while I owned it. It must be 10-15 years since we sold it and I'm not entirely sure that it hasn't lived outside since.

But it certainly seems odd that the week I weirdly decide to check if it's still on the road, I am informed it's not up for sale.

My first thought is that they've moved it to be well clear of April 6th as there are so many changes due in the budget that have an indirect impact on the domestic classic car market. That combined with the general economic worries hitting the global markets I think are causing a lot of buyers to just sit tight and await a little more clarity?

DA, do at least come up to see the car, I will be going to the viewing day on Friday early evening, and (unless the car I'm interested in looks very wrong) also on Saturday. If you haven't been to ACA before it's quite a jolly day out.

It would be a good experience. Hell of a schlep though. Would probably cost me more in petrol than the car would cost.
