Don't know if many of you noticed that for years on a bridgeover the M25 (clockwise) near the M40, some bright spark had painted "PEAS".
I had always meant to poston here to see if anyone knew what it was all about.
Came round there the other day and it now reads "GIVE PEAS A CHANCE".
WTF is that about? Anyone on here responsible?

I noticed that a couple of weeks back.

Made me laugh, if only for a couple of seconds!

Maybe its a campaign by the UK farmers to encourage folks to eat more greens?

No idea about the peas, but I remember as a kid I always laughed at the one on a bridge over the M1 southbound which read "kill the irranians" - someone was obviously so carried away with their rant that they accidentally stuck and extra "r" for good measure! laugh

edited because I wrote "irrranians" Doh!

I remember as a kid this one set of traffic lights someone had taken a black marker to the amber light and drawn a smily face on it.

It's a play on "give peace a chance", surely? (Or am I missing the point?)

I have a theory - not based on any practical knowledge - that writing on bridges is a lot tougher than people first assume.

Your primary concerns will be;
1.) not plummeting to your death.
2.) not being caught in the act by the law.

The secondary issues of boldness, clairty and spelling are often, therefore, easily neglected.

We may never know! biggrin

M Khan is bent

On another note, it might be a Terry Pratchett fan - he did the same play on the word in Good Omens.

For me, they're always the funniest.

At school, one of the few memorable pieces of desk grafiti was "Summers is a dickspring" written in a very comic and slightly unhinged hand.

I used to see something like "Guranga" or something like that everywhere, all done in proper stencilled writing? WTF was that all about.

We saw it so often, I convinced the missus it was the bridge manufacturers! laugh
