Do ducks like the rain? A deep philosophical inquiry...

I know they live in water and they're waterproof etc.. But surely nobody likes being in the rain?

If I had to go swimming in gortex then I'd certainly prefer to do it in the summer...

Any thoughts?

Humans are pretty waterproof, not many like being in the rain. Think rain is likely to be pretty miserable no matter what species you are (unless you're a species that only comes out in the rain I suppose)

i reckon they don't mind it, but don't particularly enjoy it. there's a difference between floating around, going for the odd dive etc. and being rained on.

btw - what does a happy duck look like?

frogs like the rain. what makes you think ducks are any different, apart from the feathers, flying and the liking the bread thing?

We had ducks and they would walk round in all conditions. Chickens didn't like it, and our geese would find shelter if things got heavy.

I believe so, hence my caveat. I distinctly recall seeing Mr Attenborough knelt over a hole in the rain on the televisual equipment.

I disagree, I see more defiance than disappointment. He knows the rain is misery inducing, but he intends to stand proud before his inescapable adversary.
