I switched it on as Vicki was doing her intro about the new Mini GP, I had to give up when the camerawork of her "racing" against the remote control car made me feel sick! hurl

Dreadful - my intended timeslip recording of the Gadget Show was sabotaged by a channel change so I missed some of that. Now wouldn't have minded if it had been the other way round.

I agree, it was pants. I was excited to see the Ace Cafe on it, but it really didnt bring anything to the program. I actually think it may make people associate the ace with 5th gear which is not a good thing based on this.

Before this series, 5th gear seemed to be more about the cars, with plato, vbh and tiff, but now that tt has replaced plato it has gone downhill for me! We were watching it, and compared to top gear, it really is the sort of thing a bunch of amateur lads would come up with to make a car programme. Its trying to be a trashy big brother style entertainment car program. Ie, its not really aimed at petrolheads like us!

I did enjoy the robot car part, but I think the 1 second difference may/could have been due to the computer having an extra person in the car! Surely if it were to be a fair test they would have put both people in the car on both runs!!!

I guess that sums it up, as that piece was on The Gadget Show, not Fifth Gear! laugh

d'oh it seems that Fifth Gear just blended into a blur of wishy-washy-ness... or something like that. paperbag
it's 'cos it's the same bloke what pops up on The Gadget Show (but sadly not Ms Perry).

I loved it when he started saying something along the lines of "Like you, I know nothing about cars, but love cars" WTF, how can you know nothing about them and love them, you wooden idiot! The only one who does a decent report is the long haired one, and they stuck him in a Max powered chariot at a dance festival. I'm sure the people on here with a £50 camera could so a better job!

Seems to me, on reflection, that they had some reasonable ingredients....just the wrong recipe.

They should've strapped that Tim bloke on the roof of the RC car and chased him with the digger while VHB danced in the background on the roof of the Mini "Look-At-Me"(TM) to tunes played on the Rave Car. If he survived that they could've then tied him to the back of the Evo and let Tiff drag him round the track.

I'm wasted here....

Shocking. Just awful. Completely miss the point and a wasted opportunity. There are clearly some talented producers and program makers out there. Just none of them working on 5th gear. For good TV (not cars), the Extraordinary people: Musical Genius program that followed 5thG showed how TV can be made.

Few questions:

- Does Needell go home and talk to his wife in that same voice/manner?
- Who is that freak who did the robot car piece? Seen him and Herman Munster in the same room at the same time? No? Didn't think so.
- Has VBH lost a bit of weight? Probably worrying about how sh*te her show is.

Is it repeated? I want to see it just to make my own mind up, but from the comments it seems like it was worse than last year - not better!!!

all in all it was about as entertaining as watching my house burn down on Christmas Eve..

Even VBH got on my tits with her oh so wooden acting. Normally she is the only reason to tune in.

I gave up at the rc race and surfed some "left-handed" websites (expect spotty RC lad does this to a championship standard)

Was the robot car thing any good?

Tim Lovejoy knows about as much about cars as I do about crochet.

He's an annoying wanker on Soccer AM, thinks he's god's gift to broadcasting/women (not necessarily in that order) He can't read an autocue and is as wooden as a park bench. Trouble is, his wooden - ness seems to be rubbing off on VBH.

Absolute dross.
