'voodoo child' by Jimi Hendrix. The intro just tells you, you are about to hear a master at work.

Sounds awesome as the Yanks drive / fly out to Mogadishu at the beginning of Black Hawk Down...a perfect choice of track, I'd say.

Many, many brilliant intros mentioned on here, so I'll add one instead of repeating -
The Doobie Brothers - China Grove.

ps how did we get this far before Layla came in?

For pure cheese value -

On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth?
Yes!
Will he offer me his teeth?
Yes!
Will he offer me his jaws?
Yes!
Will he offer me his hunger?
Yes!
Again, will he offer me his hunger?
Yes!
And will he starve without me?
Yes!
And does he love me?
Yes!
Yes!
On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Yes!
I bet you say that to all the boys'

Meat Loaf - You took the words right out of my mouth

Not if we're only judging the intro...

Lots of good suggestions here though. I'll add the Stones' Jumpin' Jack Flash for consideration.

If you are referring to it's F1 connotations, that's not it's intro.....

The famous bit is the end, not the intro. The rest of the song is rather different.

Is this the world we created By Queen:

Just look at all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they need

Is this the world we created?
What did we do it for?
Is this the world we invaded
Against the law?
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today?
The world that we created
