Right. If so many good PH'ers are willing to fund this kind of escapade - can I start a fund for myself and dependent on how much I get, I will go out and get myself smashed, do a few strippers and then go home ?

Its a ing farce this. The more I read, the more I think aerofoil is a Nigerian scamster taking the p*ss.
Look if I ever get anywhere near actually saving my ass from this, and after the storm has died away, I promise to put up the receipts. They are pretty uninteresting though, just large amounts with no details.

I'll chip in a fiver too, if you can be arsed to take it.

Just one point. Imagine you actually pull this off. Think about it:

1) You're a jerk losing money in lapdance bar;
2) This lands you 'in it' big-time;
3) In desparation you appeal over the web to tens of thousands of people;
4) Almost everyone knows except the missus;
5) One day missus discovers the extent of how many know and how you got out of it;
6) Snip, snip....
Good point.

Picture the scene. A sofa, cosy fire, couple cuddled up.

Mrs A : Looks like that Aerofoil bloke is going to reach his target.

A : (Silently) yikes
Who, lambkins?

Mrs A : Oh, you must have seen it. It's all over the internet. The guys in the office are all talking about it. Some idiot blew all his money in a strip club, and he's trying to get it back by begging on the web. People have made him dress up as a bearded ballerina and make dance videos and put them on youtube and things in return for pledging money. It's hilarious, you must have seen it. Total loser.

A : Ulp. Oh, I've been so busy, not had a chance.

Mrs A: Yep, you've been so busy lately, all those late nights at the office. I'm so proud of you honey. So are the kids. A jnr told his class today you are the best dad in the whole wide world. Sweetie, are you crying?

A : No, no, just something in my eye.

Mrs A: Funny coincidence, this Aerofoil guy was planning to take his wife to New York for a late honeymoon, just like us. Wierd, huh?

A : Oh, yes, very.

Mrs A: I'm glad you're not like that Honey. I love you so much...
My only hope on that was if she sees the levels I was willing to go to, to stop it effecting her!! Maybe this plan was doomed from the start, I've gone this far now though! smile

I have a plan

Everyone put up a little more cash for stuff that you can do

How about at a meet you were to wash everyones cars

People pay now and you owe them one car wash etc etc but you have to go to a few meets.

Put it this was petrol wont cost you £2500 to get to a few meets!!
The poor bastard may as well go and stand on a street corner on kings cross wearing baggy jeans if he is going to do that.

I'll give him a quid and wish him all the best, even though he was a berk.

It does PistonHeads great credit that we would think to give this bloke money under these circumstances. Even though many would think us totally mad to do so.
Thats why I asked on here, this is the only forum I use on the internet due to it having the most helpful people, who have an answer to everything. I was hoping you wouldn't fail this time too smile

I'll give you £100 if you come to our NCT group christmas party (6 18mth olds and their parents) and dress as a chicken and dance for the babies.

I'll hire the chicken suit.

You've already made a huge cock of yourself, may as well get paid for it.

London, 16th December.
£250 I think is fairer

Go on aero - for £250 its a good idea
You are right, every thing is going to help. I am seriously thinking of the chicken costume pledge.

Please do.

There are people who have suffered much greater loses on here in the past few weeks alone.
I am sure there are, and completely understand your views.

I begged, then begged some more, some people said I was begging too much, some people said I was an idiot and had some nerve to ask your help, I agreed, some great guys have offered to give me a hand, hopefully I will be able to sort out a website tonight, but I don't get in till 9, so it may not be up till a bit later.

Leave you PH name in the comments so I can thank you. I will be taking up the other gentlemans help too tomorrow when I get into work, as I left the receipts there with the details on, although I am unsure what he will be able to do about it.

Why don't you make campaign on this site like this then we can see the progress. It's really easy. If you like I'll send you the details of this one for you to adapt.
I have managed to get some more time to set this up now.

yes Same here
This is on my mind 24/7, thankfully I am not quite that far, as I have too much to live for, which is why I have resorted to this.

Suicide is on your mind 24/7, over this, your spending of the holiday money?

We 'lost' a PHer due to money last February, so please do not say things like that, it is a very emotional subject. I attempted it (with other 'issues' compounding the problem) but chose instead to be made bankrupt, for a far greater sum.

Honestly mate, it is not worth considering.
No, its not, I think what I meant to say must have came across wrong! Its on my mind, but I want to attempt to get on with my life and try and put this to oneside, not end it. Maybe I should have been more clear! Your story does indeed sound sad, and If I could have made a difference to who that was, I would have.

Thanks mate, thats how I feel, I am not having an affair, not blowing all our money on drugs every night, don't have a secret gambling issue, I have learnt my lesson big time!

Quite JL. Quite. I really don't think the crime is that bad, and the money can very easily be sorted out even if she does open the post. No need to ruin xmas.

it's something he should consider, I reckon a mistress would have been cheaper
Too right! To the people also saying I had this amazing night that they would love to have, I wish I could remember it to confirm, not only have I blown all this money, and potentially permanently damaged the relationship with my wife, I can't bloody remember what I spent it on!

The absense of thread from Aero titled "Can anyone help I need a bed/floor for the night" would suggest he hasn't spilled the beans yet.
No, but I was close to telling her last night.

What's bugging me about this thread is that I'm not reading any of the others on the forum, because this one is just epic!

If you are a scam merchant, then I fear for your cojones, because someone on here will find you....

If you are genuine, and I feel that the generosity of peeps on here is amazing, then I hope you pay it off and move on...

But. I assume you are in your twenties? Then I fear for your future, you can only do this once on here, so what about your future cock-ups? If you get off with this so lightly, then the precedent is set. I mean the rest of us have to go to the bank/family/friends etc...

Hmmm.

Anyway, hope you get it sorted, but if I was your wife and I found out that all this had gone on behind my back....? Then there might be a new definition for a 'Bobbitt'. But; are you secretly hoping that you get the dosh, and that she may admire your efforts to save the trip etc...?

I admit I'm puzzled, but am avidly watching.

scratchchin
Almost four years on PH, waiting for this scam! I am think I am just been carried along on a wave now, I can't get off, probably what happened on the night in question! Maybe I am hoping, that if I somehow manage to pay it off, and then tell her, it won't be so bad.

I have to say I'm annoyed at this thread now.

It's begging.

Funny at first, but now it's begging for money.

We close every other sponsorship thread etc (bar the Air Ambulance one) because, if we didn't, every man and his uncle would want 100,000 PH'ers donating to little Timmy's school orphanage fund, or something else by pulling on heart strings.

On reflection, my comment of yesterday to Gretchen was only half accurate. Yes, it's not your nor my job to decide who to allow people to give money to. However, it is my job as a PH moderator to close all sponsorship threads, threads that advertise, threads that ask for money.

"Best thread of the year" I particularly question.
Tony, if you close it down, can you please delete it, I am feeling bad about taking money of strangers now, no matter how generous they have been. I haven't accepted any funds yet, as this is playing on my mind, but I would prefer it if the thread was killed to, this can just be a PH Folklore memory for everyone.

BTW I must have increased the usuage of the site a fair bit! Can I not get PH to give me a bung instead for advertising smile
