Elsewhere on the web you can also find Theories on Roswell, JFK and Elvis.

I have a healthy disregared for such theories.

My Dad : Retired Computer Expert, Fellow of the British Computer Society, Fellow of the IEE Etc.
Spent some months on a TOP secret Project in AUSTRALIA with a number of other Scientists in the early 60's. Won't say what guided missile laucher he was working on cause all HUSH hush.

Anyway he said : MOON landings were fake, and the Stelth BOMBER is a computer Generated figment of the imagination. You can't see it on Radar and the only film footage has been released by the Pentagon.

Still, he drive a Ford Focus, so what does he know ?

Not much apparently, considering the stealth bomber has been attending public airshows for at least the last ten years...

The ancient Egyptians are also a hoax. The pictures of pyramids you see are just models. If you go there to see them, the effects of the sand in the atmosphere make them appear bigger than they are.

Antarctica is also a hoax. If you visit it, they actually take you around the world to the north pole. Exploration companies trick people into thinking there are two ice caps in order to doulble their profit.

Columbus never discovered the americas, and consequently europeans never settled there. Those we know as native americans crossed the siberian land-bridge, the common or garden septic, however, is descended from an ancient species of tree-sloth. Therefore mankind has never landed on the moon.

Pistonheads is also a hoax!!

By careful use of subliminal messaging in the form of pop-ups, banners and various oddly titled posts Ted, or should I say Michael Palin has been indoctrinating all of us with the T2K ethos...

I discovered this when my garage door opened accidentally and revealed that rather than a TVR being in there it was, in fact, a bicycle with panniers. With this realisation I have dicovered many other oddities...... while hugging my girlfriend I suddenly realised she was a tree, my T-bone steak was really a plate of lentils and I have been ordering pints of carrot juice at my local pub.

We're doomed I tell ya....doooomed

I had heard a rumour that Michael Howard was running for election as PM - is this a popular urban myth as well?

I don't mind being called a dim wit (or even a dimwit) - I've been called worse.

I wish I WAS Buzz Aldrin OR Michael Collins (the American one, not the Irish one).

Just caught the last half-hour of Neil Morrissey's programme on Ch5 dispelling all the usual moon hoax theories, I think it's called The Truth Behind the Moon Landings, good programme.

This is a cool site with virtual panoramas taken on the surface of the moon from the Apollo missions, zoom functions etc.

Yep - good programme.

Really exposed the proponents of "moon hoax" theories to be total nutters.

I rather liked James Oberg's description of them as "cultural vandals" i.e. the type of person who might take a knife to the Mona Lisa.

I was at a Patrick Moore lecture when some berk in the the audience asked if the moon landings were faked (the 'why aren't there stars in the photo' line). Needless to say he got a pretty abrupt answer.

I find this need to destroy great things/achievements very strange. No wonder we have stopped making them and doing them.

I missed the programme - but the fact that any credence whatsoever has been given to the hoax claims says an awful lot about those who believe that man never went to the moon.

Nice to see the conspiracy theory idiots being exposed for what they are on TV - which usually gives them far too much time and credibility.

Interestingly, I read in the London Evening Standard tonight that, not only has NASA been appointed funding for more moon landings but, and, I quote, they have been given "a ticket to Mars"

The newly appointed top administrator of NASA, Michael Griffin, is quoted as saying " Most people in the US want to make sure that as humankind expands into space, the United States is in the forefront".

I truly hope this is the case.

Whilst I'm no conspiracy theorist, one aspect of the Moon landings has always bugged me...how did they get the footage of the first rocket stage releasing and falling back to Earth?

I've seen the footage a hundred times over the years and I know from the quality that it was either shot on Super8/16mm/Super16mm film. That means the camera and film had to be retrieved in one piece after the camera stage fell to Earth, having already survived the heat destruction from the rocket stage it was attached to, only for the film to be processed. To my knowledge the rocket stages had no parachutes for soft landings, or floatation devices and the flight pattern was designed so that they fell in the sea.

It was certainly not relayed back live as per the module footage as it has film grain and is in colour?

I'd like to know how they triggered a film camera off when it's at the other end of the spacecraft as it's shot in slo-mo entailing using vast quantites of film for a short burst (say 10 seconds) Slo-mo film cameras are also very, very delicate and don't like running under high G's.

I've also always wondered how the camera left on the Moon managed to tilt, track and pan the Lunar Module as it took off - with such supposedly small compute for the landing I'm sure they wouldn't have had the power to set up a remote control or infra red guided camera system?
