Talking of "soft" prisons, how hard can it be to have a DRUG FREE prison? Feck me, anything can be had in there. I would take prisoners in, force them to cold turkey squirming in their own shit and vomit and get the millitary to run security. You take away the fully equipped gymnasiums to focus their energies other ways. Then you force them to learn to read and write, learn to cook and clean, learn a skill, have lessons on respect in society and organise jobs for them on the outside. Even if its cleaning our disgusting railway sidings with a toothbrush. If they fail exams they get extra time on their sentence. If they offend again it life with no parole. I wont miss them.
I used to work in a prison for young offenders, and at exercise time people used to hit tennis balls full of drugs over the fence and re-stock the establishment! The staff KNEW it happened. All corrupt. What a f***** up world it is.

Perhaps it's about time to have a new style of prison for these type of offenders.. real hard labour : hammer, rocks etc..

No perks (TV) .. carpet, visits..

1 meal a day..

Give the Sh1ts hell - they need to pay a debt.

Compulsory whiping too..

the one sentiment that i agree with most on this thread has been this:

if someone is in your house and does not attempt to run away when confronted, then it is fair to assume that they are going to act with intent to harm you or your family.

that should be the basis of defending your home. if they dont run, they should be fair game for any punishment you wish to hand out!

Wooly Liberal thinking is wrecking this country.

The day after the London bombings, I casually commented on a newsflash in a customers house over the killings. The first words uttered from her mouth was "Well, they are persecuted in their own country and must be desperate" WTF?????

This "Lady" lived in a £1m house, lunched, baked cakes, and socialised with her "friends" all day every day in cafe's, salons, and at coffee mornings. I was probobly the first "working class" person she'd seen all week and lived on a completely differeny planet from the rest of us and the problems of this world. All the time it wasn't her legs getting blown off and the real world is "Kept on the TV only" she doesnt care. The same attitude of our politicians. As long as the scum element is contained in the suburbs and out of the villages and their gated mansions they pretend it doesnt exist. They do not care what goes on in (SOME) state schools either, breeding our next hoodlums, as they all go to nice private schools.

I used to live on the island of Borneo. Caught doing drugs? A few lashings with a bamboo rod on the bum. Then they let it heal so they could repeat the process. Barbaric? The place was crime free. Really. It just wasn't worth the bother doing anything wrong.

Get the feckers breaking rocks. Make prison so intolerable they simply wouldn't dream of doing it again.

But not if they're inside for excessive speed.

Know what? Tony Martin is a liar, he pre-maditated shooting SOMEONE at SOMETIME, had an illegal gun bought for that purpose, but, I ING LOVE HIM!!!!

Shame he didn't invest in an Bosnian sourced AK47. That would have done the trick.

Those tts who broke in are what makes me mad about this country, total scaum whos lives are pointless who will be in trouble all their life till it ends. Hope their parents are proud.

One of the things that I picked up from the program is that if the burglars had shotguns then Martins response of shooting them with a shotgun was legal, because it was equal. But how do you know what weapon your burgler is using to know what is appropriate in response. Ie if you burglar has a knife, can you use a baseball bat or if he has a baseball bat can you use a knife, how do you tell

So you wake with someone in your bedroom with a knife in their hands you are going to say/do what?

A gut full of lead shot is the best they should hope for.

The whole "reasonable force" vagary misses the point. The cts shouldn't be intruding in the first place. End of.

Shoot, electrocute, cut up and feed to the pigs... WTF... They shouldn't be intruding in the first place!

Understand right from wrong, pikey fkwits.

It looks to me like it was premeditated. He had already said he would shoot anyone who broke into his house. But so what? Pretty well anywhere outside Europe this would be completely legal behaviour. It's called natural justice and the sooner we get back to it the better.

EXACTLY! If more people were like Tony Martin, how many burglars would fancy their chances? Granted, it could up the ante so burglars come armed. But then it would be fine to shoot them on sight in my book.

Cotty, interesting point....

I would imagine I would take 2 seconds to realise its not a dream, then he has about 0.1 of second to stab me before I attack him. He then has three choices, he runs, he stabs me or he dies there and then. Wheres my fire extinguisher?......... The thought of grovelling to scum as they do whatever they want to my wife and baby doesnt appeal to me in the slightest. We all hope we never encounter that scenario but i am not happy with a law which might incriminate me because my knife was a inch bigger than his. I cannot think of any sentence the police can give me I wouldn't choose in hindsight to seeing my loved ones hurt. It only takes a few Tony Martins and a proper justice system which doesnt let you burgle 100 homes before being caged to make people think twice. Good debate!

No.

He made a few stupid errors.

1. He let one of them live.

2. He didn't get rid of the bodies.

3. He didn't get rid of the gun.

Other than that, he did nothing wrong.

Reasonable force eh! So you're woken up in the night by an intruder, confused, scared witless, hardly able to think and YOU ARE TO BE REASONABLE!! WTF is that all about??
I wonder what state Tony Martin would've been in when he was found if he hadn't had a gun?
Another point tho, Legaly a firearm has to be locked in a steel cabinet etc etc. Now one assumes this is to prevent theft, but it also prevents a gun being used for personal defence.

And if he had done it right, no-one would have known or been any the wiser.
