Just gone through my iTunes collection and made a 28 song playlist of great intros, the highlights of which are:

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar
The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet (both already mentioned)
The Smiths - Charming Man
The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into the Sun
Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes

The (Jangly) Guitar intro on Alternative Ulster (Stiff Little Fingers)

The intro to Peace Frog (The Doors)... Guitar, Drum/cymbal, then the Bass line followed by Organ and Vocal - particularly the bass/organ which re-surfaces on quite a few "Baggy" Era Manchester tracks.

The Drum intro on My Doorbell (White Stripes).

The first 30 secs of 54-46 Was My Number (Toots and The Maytals).

Choose Life...... Trainspotting

King Of The Kerb (Echobelly) Jangly Guitar /Drums.

And Many ,Many More hehe

Rage Against The Machine- "Wake Up" They don`t get much heavier than that. shout COME ON!

Gotta say "Know Your Enemy" beats that hands down my friend!!
Pick anything off the album at random, you can`t go wrong. thumbup

NO,no no,no,no...
You are all wrong......

Howa about.....
All very good songs but we're talking intro's here. Had the album on in the car yesterday and it's solid all the way through, but no really 'killer' intro's. Wake Up probably IS the best.

Why oh why oh why has no-one mentioned

747: Strangers in the Night by Saxon confused

If you want a rock-wank intro - you got it!

Or Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath - pure filth.

Unchained - Van Halen

Oh yes . . . here's some more:

This piece did it for me:

As a boy I was stunned and overwhelmed when crossing about with my stripped bicycle while an open window hollered Van Halen's cover of Roy's golden oldie. I ditched all the ABBA stuff and became a rocker. Thin Lizzy, Bon Scott and all that
