Once again, if the news is true about who did this, a group of dangerous people hide behind religion and use this as a very weak excuse to cause death and misery.

Why do they always hide behind religion? If Gods were to exist (I am not disuting any religious beliefs here) would they want their children maiming and killing each other??

They are just sad sad people who only want to ruin the lives of others.

What I want to know is this. If being an islamic suicide bomber makes you a martyr and guarantees you access into heaven, why hasn't old Osama or Al Zarkqawi detonated one on their chests???

But that in no way places any kind of blame on public transport. It's just that someone needs to realise that there is no substitute for the car, and therefore you cannot compete with it.

I cannot think that Olympics have anything to do mit these bombings. Ist thankful that they did not kill many people on this occasion - but they have succeeded in paralysing the public transport system in the capital city. Und this ist where the real impact lies - stranded people und goodness know what cost to local businesses und the economy. There has been falls on Stock Exchange ....in reactions to this.

Und backlash no doubt will be hard sell on ID cards as "Mr Whippy" pointed out on the other thread too. Ist hard to see how an ID card ist going to stop some terrorist from creating a bomb und boarding a bus. Und we cannot have policemen on every corneer und if there are biometric surveillance cams locking into my eyeballs wherever I do my shopping... then they have still won as they will have inflicted intrusion into my personal life. Ist not a solution. Und these factions und cells will occur in every generation as well as history does show.

Do not think anyone could have done anything to prevent this tragic event any more than Bali, Madrid und various attacks by different groups (Algerian terorist attack in Paris a bit back und terrorsit faction in Tokyo underground in mid 90s. (Arguably 9/11 may have been preventable given some evidence (which may /may not be true) which appeared on variety of documentaries on the event there.

But I would hope to see no knee-jerk reactions und just a simple investigation as to who was behind it und see if there ist anything (und absolute controlled prevention meaure ist doubful given the nature of tube/bus transport) to be learned about prevention. There ist talk about rounding up to 200 known to have such connections...ist one place to start.

Perhaps ist partly because of Blair's support of Bush regime - but mostly because this group of absolute fanatics wish to impose their will on our way of life. After all - Twin Towers were attacked under Clinton as well....und no drastic security measures or identity card ist going to prevent these murderers. Und addressing the causes und trying to establish why they behave so callously....I do not think these people fully understand themselves.
