Nearly won the Nissan 350Z GT4 today...
Discussion
Close, but no cigar - as they say!
Was one of the final 30 in the www.gt4comp.com competition and had a fantastic driving event day at Bedford Autodrome today. Courtesy of Nissan/Sony, we took part in the following driving events:
* Nissan 350Z - Wet track (North circuit)
* Nissan 350Z - Dry track (West Circuit)
* Nissan Murano - Drag strip/stop test
* Nissan Murano - ball in dish' slalom event
* Nissan Pathfinder 4 x 4 course
* Nissan Micra - Autotest
* Go Karting
* Lap of the Nürburgring in GT4 (PS2) - was by far the most nerve racking!
Came very close to winning the 350Z GT4, in fact, came 3rd in a TV style "it's not you" type ending. Still I did win:
* PS2 Console
* Gran Turismo 4 Game
* GT4 Book
* GT4 T-Shirt
* Logitech GT4 Steering Wheel + Pedals
* Epson PictureMate Photo Printer
* Sony Walkman 20GB MP3 Player
About £600 worth of kit and a fantastic driving day out to boot. The whole day was filmed for a 1 hour special program to be shown on Men & Motors in the next few weeks.
350Z is an awesome car - great for the track, might have to get one...
The winner was a Subaru Impreza driver - wonder if he's a PH'er?

nice one!
So...what was the 'car winning' bit judged on?
Should have done better - it was the damn Autotest in the Micra that let me down...
It was a great day of driving, and it was a pleasure competing against you viper_larry (i was the other 8.13 nurburgring guy from your group).
The next Pathfinder I see is going to be torn apart axle from axle, melted down and turned into a tractor!
The 350z's rocked!
I was asked by the film crew what my best event was just before the karting, and i said that i thought it was going to be the GT4 session, but that id been pipped to the post over an 8 and a bit minute lap by a few tenths. Apologies in advance for not remembering your name when they asked me, i think i just said "He knows who he is and dont want him to think he's gotten to me
, but theres a bullseye on his back for the karting
" or something lame like that - Sorry! The day was great and it was fun competing against you.
Took a little while (and a bit of tinkering here) to get the Sony NW-HD3 working well with my PC, so if you need any help with it, just give me a shout, and ill gladly see what i can do.

alexpez said:Hi Alex - didn't see this post from you for a while - yep it was a great competition. We thought you might have won it before they even called the final 6, but 2nd was good. I really liked the 350z and would have been great to win it - Micra Autotest let me down hitting a few cones. Notice you did very well on the driving - top on both events

By the way, didn't want anyone to know on the day, but seeing as you asked, the Viper is mine (see profile)

Hi Graham,
I'm not normally a PH'er but have just seen this thread and thought that I should sign up. It was me that won the car! I must say that the whole day was, as you say, fantastic. The rest of the competitors and the staff at the Autodrome were brilliant. I've never won anything before and I'm absolutely over the moon. I collected the car on Tuesday of last week from Nissan's head office in Maple Cross.
Plans for it include a definite visit to the Nurburgring at some stage and I would love a blast around a few other tracks in it.
I hope this doesn't come across as bragging - I'm just thrilled. If anyone needs a copy of the score sheet from the day I can e-mail it to you in legible Excel format.

Pleased someone grateful won the car and will make full use of it - looking at the points tally you were head and shoulders above the rest of us.
We're off to the 'ring on June 11th and I would have taken the 350z then had I won it! You are very welcome to join us for the weekend?

Cheers for now...
Graham
