The instructor handled the situation like a pro. Very scary video! Isnt it true that if you eject twice, then your career is over, as the airforce wont let you pilot a plane again, praps due to the compressed vertebrae after having ejected?

Nope, my dad ejected twice during his Fleet Air Arm career and he was allowed to carry on flying.

A colleague hit a pigeon at about 130mph in a Saab 9-3 prototype at millbrook a few years back, it went through the screen, buckling the roof at the front, covered him in blood, gutz, snot n gobble and feathers before exiting the rear screen!!

You wouldnt believe the amount of damage a pound of poultry can do!!

Is the site down? I get the dreaded "...requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.." message. No joy with the other link either.

You know it!!! That 3rd one works fine, thanks! (first link opened up a page with embedded media player, but no video was forthcoming)

Question though, why eject rather than attempt a forced landing?

I started thinking of all this stuff and i thought i would share something strange with you..

I know its not related to the Birdstrike video but what the hell..

About 17 months ago i posted this on site in a reply talking about the existence of Area 51

*********************

www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/YF-12/HTML/E-22047.html

Lockheed test pilot Robert Gilliland made the first flight in 936 on 13 March 1964 at Area 51, Groom Lake, Nevada.

its on a government website, that means they admit it exists as they say robert gilliland flew in the 936 at Area 51, Groom Lake, Nevada...

*********************

Then about 8 weeks later they remove the "at Area 51, Groom Lake, Nevada."
from www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/YF-12/HTML/E-22047.html the sub nasa website..

That freaked me out, it took me ages to find that "Area 51 Groom Lake" bit that was actually on a government website? & that they had actually read what i had posted (on a high profile website) and then removed it, conspiracy or what?

+ i didn't know NASA monitors threads

Wouldn't surprise me to find spooks reading this site loads... wonder if Ted would care to post the results of grepping his logs for .gov
