£3k incentive for failed Asylum Seekers
Discussion
The latest Government plan to encourage failed Asylum seekers to leave the UK is to pay them £3k each ..... easier than all the forced removal hassle ...... apparently ( As the Govt has been missing its own targets on removal rates )
I do wonder though to what extent this will act as a magnet for more people to come to the UK to spuriously claim asylum
........is there an arbitrage opportunity here for some entrepreneurs ? as £3k is rather more than the single airfare from most African countries and represents 20 years pay for many people.

The knee jerk reaction is that they should just kick the beggars out.
Objectively though they are not achieving that, and it appears to cost £11k for every one that does actually go, so will this actually save mone?
What should happen is a declared cut off date to stop new people arriving with the hidden agenda of staying long enough for their application to fail etc etc and then get the handout. Also anyone after that date won't qualify either even if they are already here in order to encourage them just to "gettt oorrfff moi laaand!"
whats the betting HMG wrap it all up with an amnesty.

Pay me half that for each one and i'd kindly chauffeuer them back in the rear of a 42 tonner. An example of the PFI in action. How about it, Bliar?
My early-retirement idea was to charter a plane from Mogadishu ... advertised as "free flight to London" for 300 people
Then split the £900k proceeds.
I'm not so sure about this £11k figure to remove them, most of that figure is taken up with the appropriate people being paid for what they do their jobs in that perticular area, a bit like saying a scuffle outside a nightclub cost the taxpaers x amount of ££s, but is that no the reason the Police are employed? Likewise, the immigration authorities!
The Government should introduce a "friend" scheme for failed asylum seekers. It works like this:
Each failed asylum seeker is partnered with a hard-working, law-abiding, tax-paying British citizen. This citizen then has 2 choices -
1) They can either let the failed asylum seeker live with them - this will appeal to lettuce eating Guardian readers.
2) The citizen is supplied with a sharp stick and a map to Dover and it's their job to "encourage" the failed asylum seeker to leave this green and pleasant land.
Every Sunday you'll see hundreds of people with pointy sticks herding foreign-looking types down the M20.

Maybe I can write to Gordon Brown for a refund?

Just stop paying tax now, they'll probably not catch you before you leave.

Perhaps DNA testing would come in handy here
