Apologies if it's been done but, after coming across:

www.nostalgiacentral.com/features/20moviethings.htm

I was wondering, what else only ever happens in movies?

How about:

You never need to go to the toilet, even if you are held captive in a cell for days on end

29. One man shooting at 20 men has a better chance of killing them all than 20 men firing at once (it's called Stallone's Law).

Thought that was the 'A Team' factor.

21. Cars will explode instantly when struck by a single bullet

Also should include random things that explode when in the real world they never would

And just thought that if there's any british people in an american film, they have to have the same acsent and either be a butler or evil

I thought that was the samurai code of honour though?

Women in horror films are never too scared to investigate, even if they suspect an axe wielding maniac is hidden in their cupboard and they are alone, armed only with a toothpick. Upon opening the cupboard you will never find the maniac, its only after you sigh, relax and turn around that you realise he's behind you.............

The only way to kill a murderer is to shoot them repeatedly in the head at point blank range, failing that, they'll never die. Other people however, will die when an explosion is within 500 feet of them.

Samurais use swords, and thats against other Samurais similar to Chivalry between knights. Also the attackers will be taken out relatively easily (and spectacularly) by a hit, until you reach the main bad guys 2IC who will be the last one to fight and it will last for ages until he eventually gets taken out in the most spectactualar fashion yet.

Women emerge from exploding cars, planes, helicopters etc...without a hair out of place, a smudge of their makeup, or even a scratch on their faces.

You never need to lock your car but you do your house.

In films, all cars accelerate and cruise at the same speed. Beat up police cars are equally as fast a Nitroused, turbocharged japanese racers.

Geeky blokes can end up with really attractive women, even if they aren't millionaires.

Anything that seems irrelevant at the time is the centre of the entire plot.

If a man and a woman (rivals) get involved in a sporting contest, no matter what sport, the woman will win. This is true of TV and literature as well and it would still work for powerlifting and rugby. The woman will be amused and the man will be frustrated and angry at the outcome.

This is so true

But actually applies to any kind of contest in a film IMO.

all fist fights go like the following:

one guy takes 3 or 4 heavy punches to the jaw without resistance (left, right, left right, naturally) looks dazed, blocks one punch then responds with 3 or 4 punches of his own, the final one delivered after a second or two pause and knocking the other guy out cold, then he rubs his jaw

except where any type of martial arts is involved, then you'll receive several kicks to the head and ribs, any one of which would actually leave you requiring hospital treatment

(and of course none of this will hurt, but when a woman dresses your tiny wounds, you'll grimace in pain)

also, no matter how fast you are driving, you always keep your accelerator pedal only halfway depressed, then press it flat only after seeing your rival pull alongside

plus nitrous (or nitro, the terms are interchangeable) will make you take off
