Going to friends tonight for the first proper dinner in their new house. I will be making the pudding - all is well I thought. Thought I'd just let them know what I was doing - turns out she can't eat dairy (or wont, just to be difficult, but thats another story)

So I'm buggered now.

Any suggestions?

Work has come up with:

A banana and some nuts for her, us to eat the profiteroles as planned

A tin of peaches for her, us to eat as planned.

Poached pears.

HELP.

Nice thinking tho - I'm still stuck in the summer pud rut, but bearing in mind its foggy and cold I think I can break out the winter puds

How about meringues and raspberries? Leave the cream to one side for those that will eat dairy...

Great ideas thumbup

Just had a text to suggest sticky toffee pudding and icecream. (apparently real icecream is no problem)

I had a feeling the "no dairy" was just for show rolleyes

Therefore I'll be making it with clotted cream and serving with clotted cream icecream. evil

Never the less I've got some ideas for non dairy stuff for the next time.

If its one thing I can't abide its people who don't eat things just to be seen not to. grrrrrrrr

Take a selection of cheeses and some nice biscuits to enjoy with them. That'll piss her off.

yes

Crumble is your best bet; but you don't have to restrict yourself to apples. Rhubarbs & plums also make an excellent filling for crumble

Does it really taste better with muesli?

Did you sprinkle the cinnamon on top or mix it in with the mixture instead of sugar?

Coat the apples & blackberries in cinnamon & demerara sugar, use oats/muesli with more demerara sugar mixed in for the top lick

I use Flora in any case; it makes a fine crumble mixture

Or just eat whatever you like but don't write down in your diary.

Beer. yes

No dairy in that... in fact it's basically hops... which are clearly healthy, natural ingredients... hehe

It saved the lives of brewery workers in London last century as the local water supply was contaminated with typhoid. Only people to survive were the brewery workers as they only drank beer thumbup
