How was it for you?

Did the earth move for you or did it all end in a whimper?

Friday night - cold surfacing and blocking right nostril
Saturday night - friend's wedding, lots of booze and hilarity and I can't breathe through either nostril
Sunday night - OMFG I'm watching Dirty Dancing.

I hate being ill whilst my other half is away

Friday: Pretty boring, got down the pub for a few jars in the evening

Saturday: Same pub, this time someone managed to start a biblical p*ss updrink, so a pretty good night

Tonight: Quiz and curry night at the local bar. £2 for a plate of gorgeous curry and 50p entry for a quiz with a £150 pot, can't argue with thatthumbup

Saturday, gave BG's arches and underside a lathering in Dinitrol, then gave myself a lathering in the bath, looking like a tarred Buddha. Then BG junior had some mates over for a sleep over and we watched all three X men films.
Sunday, went to Tescos and did the weekly shop in BG, larded it all afternoon drinking and munching nice food. Suburbia eh?

Fri - Me Julie away for the weekend. Picked up some bits for the bike in Darlington, then rang Tallbloke on a whim (that's like a mobile fone but different), before hoofing down to his place in thick fog for stew and beer lick

Sat - Planned to install... er, I mean get a Corgi fitter to install... new combi boiler but me Julie called to say her car was broken into in Leics so she was coming back early. Not a good plan to have no hot water and a woman about the place, so it didn't take much effort to cancel that job and go out on the bike instead

Sun - You know those ten-minute jobs... all cars and bikes have them...? Well I thought it'd be a god plan to fix the non-functioning choke on the Honda and balance the carbs. Most of the bike came apart in ten minutes, then one screw took a bloody hour to extract smash rage.
Couldn't unjam the choke as the frame is in the way and didn't want to take the carbs off, so rigged up the mercury gauges only to find the pishing carbs were spot-on banghead
Now Julie has gone to the flicks, there's nowt to eat and I'm bored. There's only one thing for it... well two actually. One of them is a Chinky. And ears... do I hear the sound of a quad-cam V4...?

Friday night - working, fell asleep on sofa in front of telly :rolleyesL
Saturday - working all day, mildly eventful concert in the evening as I had to walk off stage during the performance with a nasty case of the squits
Sunday - first day off for a million years. Lie in, lazed around, washed car, realised I missed an Ide Hill meet banghead, will do a bit of practice in a mo, and then get soundly thrashed on the PH GTL league later thumbup

"Performance management" rolleyes tomorrow so I suppose I had better try to remember what I said that I'd do this year and come up with excuses as to why I haven't done it...

Friday afternoon and man-flu starts, which is a problem as on Saturday we are off to pick up second Cobra body from Peterborough.

Friday evening mate is 3 hours late with the trailer and van, and when he does arrive we haven't even started to load chassis onto the trailer and the local electricity substation blows fuses causing a total blackout.

No betteries for the torch and leccy board informs me it'll be a 90 minute wait for power to be restored. We decamp to pub and get bladdered.

Saturday : Get up at 7.00 am, after only 5 hours fitful sleep, feeling even worse, dose myself with Lemsip, load trailer and set off.

On M69 trailer blows a tyre....aha no wheel brace on trailer and van's wheelbrace is the wrong size.

Phone breakdown service for van to be told the trailer isnt covered on breakdown insurance and the wait will be 3 hours before they can get to us. I'm feeling like death at this moment and dont want to wait. The "pretend policemen" in a 4x4 pull up and ask us what the trouble is.........they dont have a wheel brace either , just some cones and a book to take our details.

They then drive off. Exactly what is their role in life?

So we gingerley drive at 20 mph along the hard shoulder with the trailer on 3 of its four wheels until we happen upon another broken down vehicle who is in possession of a socket set.........10 minutes later we are on our way again with the correct complement of wheels.

50 minutes later the higheways agency ring us up to ask if we are OK.... we are now on the other side of Leicester, about 35 miles away from the M69.

Arrive back home at 5pm , unload Cobra now complete with bodyshell, fall into the shower, dose myself with Ibuprofen, and get a curry delivered.

Get up this morning, attempt to buy a new tyre and fail as there's no one local who stocks 12" tyres, decide to refuel truck with Morrisons own Bio Diesel and send it back on its way.

Now on third set of ibuprofen tables, a few more beers and I'll be turning in for an early evening.

I have had better weekends !!

Cheers,

Tony
