Really really bad day....had a call from Brighton Marina to say my baby has sunk on its mooring. Pride and joy, 18' Broom Capricorn powerboat with 5.3 litre 260 hp inboard/outboard engine. Have cherished her for years and she is a real head (and ear) turner due to the classic sporty lines and above waterline exhausts (no silencing) which make an american muscle car sound like a Toyboata Prius!

GUTTED!!! And expecting insurers to do the normal wriggling! No idea yet what cause is. :-(

If I knew how to do it I'd post a picture of her, in rude health, but have no idea where to start!

I'm imagining the early scene from Pirates of the Carribean with Johnny Depp and his sunken boat. hehe

Seriously though, I hope the insurers aren't arsey about it. Never nice to lose your p&j

A good point well made! Abject apologies to all members over the age of 21 who may be offended!

I take offence to that sir. I'm certainley over the age of 21. Was just encouraging you to not be too miserable over it.

You have your health and family, something some people are without.

It could be worse was the point I was attempting to make.

I have a GP14 sailing boat.

While I was away for a weekend a storm hit the beach I cept my pride and joy on. Eneded up with two big punch holes in the hull and numerous little bashes. It was in good nick before, I was gutted.

As the seriously exceptionally high tide came in, the boat was lifted off it's launching trolley, which it was tied to, and bounced on and off it. The next morning it was at the other end of the beach, on a pile of seaweed. She is a cruel mistress, is The Sea.

Absolutely no offence meant at all. My pointed remark about those over 21 is to suggest that those gents who are happy to hug are likely to be under 21! The 'new man' as it were. Since you didn't use any manner of 'smiley' to suggest you might be joking I was actually apologising to you. Perhaps you have had a bad day too?

As an aside and since being picky seems to be the way, how do you know I have either a family or my health? Please don't take offence but I am now wondering whether you are being serious or not.

As to feeling too miserable, this happened but 1.5 hours ago. I would respectfully suggest that I should be allowed to feel really miserable about the loss of my boat which, incidentally, has been with me since I was a young lad and was inherited from my, now deceased, father.

I bet you are gutted too. Back in the '70's my old man had a 'Minisail' which was blown away from a beach in the S of France. We don't seem to have much luck with water craft! They say that the best days with owning a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it!

whatever

Bugger, bad news chap.

I used to 'work' on 'shockwave' which had a pair of lamborghini lumps in it.

ears Aural perfection, and I know what you mean about no silencing....fantastic noise.

Got everything crossed for you, even if it means getting another, It won't replace current, but you may get more ears

I concede defeat.. I can't work out how to use the smilies so don't (although should learn), have no idea about your family and guessed (shouldn't have) and apologise profusely.

I shall not try to bring comedy to a thread where it's unlikely to be taken as such (unless I learn how to use smilies)

Incidently, Sorry to hear that the boat sank.. I should have just said that in the first place.

Thanks Mike, Was Shockwave a yellow beastie? I think I may have spotted her on a trailer whilst careering through France some years ago. I "wooo hooo'd" a lot and reacted in a childlike fashion but man that was a boat and an half! There is a Donzi P1 craft along the way from my now submerged boat packing about 1100 hp and it sounds like a squadron of Spitfires when getting out on the plane. I lurve that sound. When she's out I will have two engineers on standby to try to get her started. The rot really only sets in once air gets to her.

is there any chance they will salvage it or is it likely to be written off?
