Ok well off topic here but getting desperate now so looking for any sort of help.

We have been informed that the flight company we were using for our 3 week trip to Disneyworld Florida in July has withdrawn all flights until next year and having looked into alternatives the prices now are just a joke.

Problem is prices for just about anywhere in July/August are laughable and in between uncontrollable sobbing my missus is panicking we are not going to get anywhere and my eyes are now bleeding from trawling the internet trying to find something – we quite fancied Disneyworld Paris then Eurocamp but the Euorcamps are chocca block. My wifes best friend is a travel agent and she is not doing any better than us.

So Please Help!

Circumstances are these – 2 adults (30 something) and 3 children (7, 4 and 2) and has to be school hols so July and August. We will look just about anywhere in reason and budget is as decent as possible at as low cost as possible – don’t be fooled by the 3 porsches (that’s why I’m skint!). We’ve never gone away July/August before and now I know why….

So can anyone recommend a decent search website, personal contact, someone who owns a villa, anything really to make the search a bit easier.

We can find some cheapish flights to mallorca but I know bugger else about the place so don’t know where to look after that.

ALL tips appreciated!

J

PS Does everyone hate looking for holidays as much as me?

Could try www.lastminute.com for flights, hotels or package holidays. We usually avoid school holidays, as no kids, but day before Good Friday, my wife decides need some decent sunshine over the Easter weekend, so scanned through the website Thursday evening, booked a weeks hols in Egypt flying two days later!

Good service, but, far too many kids........school holidays ! shoot

However we did get a late booking and had a great time. beer

travelcitydirect were who we used for our Florida holiday a few years ago. They have their own flights, but not sure if you have to book the hotel through them aswell.

Might be worth a look?

Recently had a similar issue with prices in July/August. I ended up booking accomodation direct on here www.ownersdirect.co.uk/default.htm a lovely villa in Portugal & booking flights direct with Monarch online. Ended up far cheaper than any package tour & we have a 4 bed villa with private pool for 2 weeks.
Advantage of a villa is it's the same price no matter how many go so the more of you that do go the better the deal.

I have a 3 bed penthouse apartment in Hong Kong, swimming pool, tennis courts, gym and only 20 mins from HK disney. I will be here (in HK) August but there is plenty of space.

If you are interested send me a mail and I will forward some more details.

I have just had my brother and family here for a month, they had a great time.

Don't know how much you're willing to pay for flights but travelsupermarket.com are offering return flights from Birmingham to Sanford for £474.00 including taxes. Depart 5th July, return 26th July. Not sure how much child tickets are. It would be worth you looking on eBay for a villa. We paid £750.00/week for a villa in 1995 but sourced a really nice villa on ebay last year for £320.00/week, including pool heating. Many owners advertising on eBay need to let their villas to cover the mortgage, and with strong competition are willing to let for silly prices. The link to the flights is:

Mallorca is lovely - don't believe the "Shagaluf" image.

Go to the North East corner around the Pollenca / Puerto Pollenca area & it is really family friendly. We have been there a couple of times with our (now) three year old & everyone has had a great time. Safe beaches, good restaurants and some fantastic driving roads over the mountains to Soller in the North (even more fun in a rental Seat Ibiza!!).

Palma is a wonderful cosmopolitan city with loads of stuff going on - just a walk along the marina front will stagger you with the size of some of the "yachts" there.

We have used this villa company for the past few years and they have been absolutely excellent: www.villa-select.co.uk

Hope this helps

Alex

Edited to say: PM me on alex_keyse@hotmail.com if you want more info about the island

https://www.flyzoom.com are offering flights to New York in July/August for £1500 for all five of you, then an extra £500 on www.expedia.com for flights from NY to Orlando.

So for about £2000 you could get the whole family there, which isn't bad at all really.

Why not fly to Newfoundland and hire an RV? Friendly people, relatively good food, not too much sun, great beer, and you can do a recce for TargaNewfoundland as well....
Flights direct from LHR daily, and still cheap.....
or Nova Scotia and PEI which gets HOT in the summer, also direct LHR-YHZ!!!can give you addresses in Halifax etc...

If I had a family like that I'd be flying to the far-east. Much better value for money and the kids will see and learn about a real culture. You can always include a them park in somewhere like Hong Kong Disneyland.

Eurocamp have campsites near to Eurodisney, you stay in one of their tents or mobile homes, theres reps on hand if you need them.

tents are well equiped with gas cooker, decent sized fridge, proper beds in 3 bedrooms (a double and 2 singles that can accomodate 2 single beds each) and all the crockery/glasses for a family of 6.

quite economical if you have kids too.. all you need to do is book which week you want, and tell em which ferry crossing.

Alternativly theres the french blatting company www.frenchblat.com/ run by a member of the lotus 7 club.

Why not lower your carbon footprint and go to the Lincolnshire Riviera? Leave the family at Butlins and spend the day at Cadwell, back for fish and chips at Skeggy. And anyway what's this got to do with Porsche?

Wow - thanks for all the hints, accomodation offers and to Kippax, Schmalex, Arfur and Staceyb for the villa links.

Kiwisr - might have hit on something there with NY being my favourite city - would love to take the kids there for a few days first, will give it a try.

Cheers all!
