You can buy on specification if you wish, I personally use my eyes to decide which picture is better.

I did the same and chose the Panasonic as a result. Had it for a year, enjoying both Sky HD and next gen consoles. Was more than a grand when I bought it but, I think thats what they're going for now.

I have a 50 LG, have no complaints, the only thing is that it looked pretty average without the black glass stand, i would definately buy a decent stand to go with it, it looks much better on it.

NO, NO,NO Panasonic make their own screens 100%, they do however supply the screens for Bang and Olufsen.

I was told by a guy who owns a B&O shop that Pioneer currently make the best plasma TVs. Maybe not his wisest move!

To get the latest advice, ring him up. However, be aware that there will be much (MUCH) discussion of cars before the conversation turns to tellies.

This is a good thing, by the way.

True. Although a lot of the TVs in shops are having a totally shite signal put into them.

We just got a smallish Panasonic with a HDMI DVD player and it's very crisp.

Out of interest (and hoping not to hijack) Do Sony make their own screens? And either way what's the view on their quality?

(not looking to buy btw)

Bought a 42" Panasonice Viera plasma yesterday.... £999 including a very nice slim lime stand from Empire Electricals. Picture quality is orgasmic. Just watched the latest "Pirates" film this afternoon... cinema in your own home.
