Was debating whether to post this as it will probably get ripped to shreds, but I can't really explain it. Driving back home yesterday at about 6.30pm in the pitch dark, I had a rather strange experience.

I was on a NSL road I know very well, doing between 45-55 mph as it's pretty twisty. A car appeared travelling the other way, and when we were maybe 100 ft from each other, I saw what I can only describe as a person - although totally grey - standing in the middle of the road with their arms raised above their head. I immediately slammed the brakes on and in the same instance saw the car coming towards me swerve and the angle of his headlights dipped as he must have also hit the brakes hard. The speed we were travelling meant that we passed each other in seconds, but as we went past where the figure had been standing, there was absolutely nothing there. Nothing had crossed in front of either of us, and nothing in the middle of the road.

I'm sure there was a rational explaination but boy did I get the shivers!

Did you question the other driver about it?

No - looked in the rear view and he was round the next bend. Didn't really want to stop the car anyway :S

Headlights reflect off a puddle and your imagination works its magic...

Other driver sees car coming towards him slam on brakes for no reason, he must be thinking "oh crap is he going to swerve into me eek" so he brakes and swerves away from you just in case.

Either that or alien ghosts have a sense of humour!

The other car was a ghost. That's pretty obvious as it must have scared the crap out of the guy standing in the road to make him run away like that.

^^^ Could well have been either of these things. At the time the creeping coldness up your spine tells you otherwise though!

This is very similar to a road near where I live, a well known ghost story for decades is of a lady appearing in the road in front of cars and forcing them into the hedge/ditch before disappearing. Been happening for years.

On the edge of the deep dark forest, just round the corner from Hogwarts.

Is that some kind of euphormism?

Many years ago I was traveling from the town back though some country roads back home, it was very foggy and as a result I was driving very slow on dip beam due to the light reflection...
Anyhow as I slowed to pass the road that led to the abandoned hospital I saw some small but bright lights floating in the fog slowly coming nearer. First there was two then four then they vanished...Sometimes high up..Sometimes almost on the road..
I started to slowdown now to a crawl pace still could not believe what I was seeing. THERE! Another two. ...No gone...
And as I got closer with my heart pounding away expecting a bang on the door any moment I saw.......
