The prog was quite entertaining and so, for that matter, was Boris, as usual.

Just watched the repeat, very interesting in all parts and an amazing story of his Turkish grandfather trying to create peace in volatile post WWI Turkey. Many similarities between Boris and him, politics, journalism and dealing with mad nationalist types.

I thought these types were all inbred related anyway.

I saw the repeat tonight, too. Very interesting and, as usual, Boris was very entertaining.

Given the various Royal (and noble) families' fondness for illegitimate heirs, I wonder just how many people would find the same if they could go back eight generations? Tens of thousands would be my guess...

Yep, i try and watch all those "who do you think you are" programs, always good viewing. Last year Mathew Pincent's was interesting when he too found out he was related to the royals. To be fair we all probably are if you go back far enough through enough lines and all probably have some interesting people as part of our family. I've got a famous ancestor, Louis Pasteur, he's my great, great, great uncle. biggrin My great uncle was the oldest rugby player in the world, received his MBE at 91 whilst still playing. biggrin

I'm related to my parents, but not everyone they know. It's a very small gene pool at top.

Great news, I was so pleased for Boris. I was especially pleased at him being German and had a Barony there too. I hope all the anti-Boris people were watching it, just shows how intelligent and well-bred he is. Good for Britain to have a man like him being the Mayor, I hate the Reds, Damn you Red Ken!

Only the Austrian Hapsbergs tended to be inbred by marrying close relations from the same generation. All of the other European Royalty married royalty from other countries that's why they do all end up related as distant cousins but it takes many generations, not the same generation.

I once heard it said that most of England's indigenous population could trace their ancestry back to Edward I.

So bend the knee, peasants.

Saw the repeat of this tonight (well, last night as of a couple of minutes - spot of insomnia at the moment - too much sunny D!)

Anyway - thought Boris came over rather well! About the only politicians I think I'd want to sit down and have a drink with - he seemed to be genuinely interesting and quite driven. It also showed him as an educated man, not the usual comedy toff (well, maybe still slightly comedic and a tad posh, but you get what I mean).

I was joking about the Sunny D.
