Should I want a Saab.....

I had no idea this even existed, love it. I've owned a 2007 Saab 93 Aero Anniversary estate for years, and have never known what, if anything, could ever replace it until now. Were any of these ever brought to the UK?
One or two demo / review cars IIRC and that's about it. Real shame as I'd have gladly had a V6 Aero XWD. Even finding a saloon V6 XWD is nigh-on impossible.I have a 2005 9-5 Aero Estate Auto. Had it since Feb of last year. Really like it, but I'm not sure if I agree with some of the statements made on this thread.
The auto box is not 'excellent'. Its quite slow and well behind the current stuff. I don't think they changed it at all throughout 9-5's model cycle. Wish I'd gone for a manual as they are meant to feel a bit quicker than the autos.
Whilst the boot is huge their isn't a huge amount of space for passengers, but the 9-5 is better than the 9-3, which is very cramped, especially for rear passengers.
Most I have ever got out of mine is 32, but in all fairness I do quite a lot of short journeys and the last tank was 27, which is a lot less than I was expecting when I bought it. I don't use it everyday, but it still does 7k a year, so 27mpg at 7000 miles isn't cheap motoring especially when you take into account £290 VED.
I'm still deciding on if I want to replace the 9-5 with a diesel 9-3 estate Vector Sport or Aero. That front end is still very striking. Boot on the 9-3 isn't big though and we have a greyhound and one year old. They both take up a lot of space.

I could only dream of 27mpg... I'm getting around 19-20mpg on my stupid commute :'(
You must have a very heavy foot, even I can manage more than that!!!!!!!!!I would agree about the auto box, I remember when we bought ours people said you must go for the auto as it's so much better, well we wasn't and we are so glad after 5 years of owning the car.The same was said about the SatNat, glad we got that as well.
However time has now come to trade it in for a learner car so it is going at the end of the month.
Cracking car it has been, munched up many miles in Germany
My 2006 9-5 Aero manual estate gets 34 mpg on 90 mile regular drives up and down the A1. As there is so much commercial traffic, and the BMW/Audi/Merc lane is full of frustrated posh people going nowhere fast, I tend to be in the lorry lane on cruise control at 70-75, popping out into the German lane only to overtake the 18 wheelers (rather than just sitting there permanently because it is my aryan birthright).
Including dodging in and out of towns that can drop a little, to around 30-32 mpg.
I am about to go on holiday for a week in Scotland, so will report back on actual fuel consumed over 1500 miles of twisty, hilly Scottish stuff, loaded down with the wife's wardrobe and two excited mutts.

After 5 years ownership mine goes tomorrow.
Glad I opted for a manual as a mate went for the auto and regretted it, sold after 3 months for a manual.
We did 30k in the 5 years over various roads, it is more at home on the motorway/autobahn as we did 2 trips a year to German.
Shall miss it, but have replaced it with a E250 Merc

The Aero is a 2.3HOT (High output turbo) so depending on model year it'd be either 250 or 260bhp, oodles of torque and decent economy.
I am eating loads of humble pie.....I hated my father in laws Aero when he had one new in 2003. Just bought a Aero HOT 250bhp, now I love them.RedLeicester said:
