I'm another motorsport follower and sometimes competitor who has been checking in regularly with a lump in my throat - without doubt this is the most raw and moving thread I have read in 5 years in these forums. I wish Andy a full recovery, and your family and friends a lifetime of happiness with him.

Thanks to the whole Neate family for the regular updates, I have been watching this thread for over a week and the steady stream of news has been a comfort for anyone that witnessed Andy's terrible accident. Glad there has been positive progress and I'm sure the latest pneumonia report is just a blip in Andy's courageous fight.

Continued best wishes from this concerned motorsport fan...

I was at Silverstone this weekend for the Superbikes, and took some time out of the pit walk to stop and think about Andy and his family.

Thank you so much to the family for all the updates, it it very kind of you to give up your precious time to keep us informed.

Stay strong

Hi all, many of you will know me from doing security and parking up paddocks over the last 15 years or so in various championships. I just had to drop a line and say how pleased myself and my team are that Andy is making steady progress, hopefully to a full recovery.
We all really enjoyed the event and thought that it was well run and good humour prevailed in most incidents. A big thankyou to all who had dealings with myself or my team in being considerate and reaching sensible compromise where needed.
Hope to see you all again!

Richard Trinder.

Hi its IAN just a few words to let you all know how andy is doing,i did not go to see him today, but spoke to sara this morning ,they have woken him up.She has been with andy all night after his long induced sleep, she said he is not able to understand where he is at this moment in time,He is having flashbacks of the crash, and will not let sara leave his bedside at this moment. This is due to the drugs he is on,they also put him in a chair but due to the fact he has lost 9 days of his life lying flat on his back.He felt very dizzy,so they placed him back in bed.
But at last this is a move in the right direction, and take it from me as his dad he is a fighter.
He has the best of the best on his side SARA +HIS 2KIDS she will get him through this hard time,i know when i have been falling apart during this time she has STUCK ME back together again bless her.
And sara-jane andy would not have got this far i think he is now deaf because of all your talking to him,THANKS BABE I LOVE YOU KEEP TALKING.
And to monica his mum thanks for being there to suport him as well,
also Paul,Matt, and partners.
As i say where motor racing is concerned we all know the nature of the beast but when it bites one of your own "GOD IT HURTS"

Good to hear the positive updates, I know alot of the marshals that attended the incindent read this thread everyday to keep up with his condition. We all marshal because we love the sport and feel proud to be a part of it. We have been called heroes but I can assure you we are nothing of the sort, the heroes are people like Andy who battle to live and return to a normal life.

Our continued prayers and best wishes are with you all.

All,

Further to my previous, card on its way to the JR, obviously signed by myself, but sent on all our behalves......

One other thing... suggestion came from a similar thread on the BTCC site.. If you want to 'do something' how about a donation to the air ambulance who were involved in the incident (warwickshire, I think)

I sent a post the other day as myself and my husband were spectators at our first Britcar and even though we don't know Andy or his family, we have checked the thread every day and we are so pleased that he is making a recovery. Our continued thoughts are with Andy and his astounding family. Clare X

As part of the Jemco team that took part in the 24 hours we obviously were part of the unfortunate events of that Saturday. However since that weekend many of the guys I work with ask on a daily basis how Andy is doing - most of whom do not follow motorsport in any way, but all of whom know of our concerns for Andy & his family.

His courage, and that of his family & friends, is so very evident & thoughts and best wishes to all involved are coming in from beyond the motorsport family. Which speaks volumes.

To Andy, Sara, Ian & all the family, you continue to be in all our thoughts. May you all continue to find the strength to get Andy back to full fitness.

Hi

I was in one of the support races to the Britcar race at Silverstone. My husband and I also saw much of the Britcar race, including the start.

Our thoughts have been with Andy, his family and friends since the crash and we were concerned to hear the level of injury sustained by Andy. Whilst we don't know Andy, we have been watching this thread since it started and wish Andy a full recovery and his family the continued strength in supporting this recovery.

very pleased to hear andy has been in a chair albeit for a short time. The road may be long and winding yet but I hope the worst of it is over for all of you. Ian, Andy certainly sounds like a fighter to me.

Thanks again for the updates. Glad there is some progress to hear about.

Great to hear they got him out of bed an into a chair which I assume is good news regards his back/neck?
Sounds like the start of the road to recovery.

Best wishes to all the family and especially Andy.

its great news that Andy is continuing his recovery, and i echo what many have said here thanking his family for taking time to let us know his condition in what must be an incredibly diffiult time for you all. i've never posted here, and found my way here thanks to someone posting in another motorsport forum which i believe Andy has posted in previously. I have been checking daily for news on Andy's progress, i am heartened by the kind words everyone has for him and his family, and also the strength of untiy from his family, he is very lucky to have such support and will be needing every bit of it during his recovery, which i really hope is swift and complete.

best of luck Andy, keep fighting
