Friday afternoon going to slow at work so I was trawling fleabay and came across this;

Griffith add

Thought I recognised the reg. plate so checked and its my old Griff, see my profile for what it looked like last time i saw it.
Hope they straightened the chassis which was twisted. It was in a real mess after the crash, the passenger door was the only intact panel on the whole car.

Seems to be a lot of money for a (cat D?) write off.

I think it was classified Cat C (uneconomical to repair) spoke to the seller on the phone this evening (curiosity and all that) he had the car MOT'd yesterday and it wasn't flagged up as a Cat C.
I put my PP on retension before the insurers paid out, so now wondering if DVLA transfered the Cat C status along with the plate to this car?
Anyway, after a long chat to find out what he had done to put car back on road - I would strongly suggest any interested parties have the chassis very closely inspected before parting their hard earned.

Looking at the damage, that is seriously scary that it has been re-advertised without any mention of the accident! rolleyes
Incidentally, bidding has ended, no takers....

The pic on my profile doesn't tell the whole story either, the initial impact twisted the chassis (PR Wood checked on their jig) which was already a basket case as one of the top rails had rusted through in the transmission tunnel (Penninsular picked that up the month previous and I was looking as a £5k body off repair job prior to the accident).
The seller has put his heart and soul into the body repair unaware of this.
There should be much tighter controls on the repair of crash damaged cars, Knowing what I know about this car it make me wonder just how many death traps are put back on the road that current owners are unaware of the horror that lies beneath.
