Sorry to hear about the experience. Doesn't sound great, though I am sure they will sort it out for you.

Just as a caution, PetrolTed who runs pistonheads has a very strict policy against "naming and shaming", due to the politics of not getting both sides of the story etc.

I would suggest removing the name of the dealer in the interim, otherwise a moderator is likely to do it.

yes ....and do it fast!

Sorry to hear of your bother. It does make you laugh, they can hardly say they didn't know, as whoever did it has obviously slung the handle in the bin!

Speak to Andrew (edited to say 'The Boss' as may have names confused), somebodies messd up and made things worse by hiding it - so I doubt the boss will know about it yet. He will when you call him and explain - I wouldn't tar them all or the dealer in question with the same brush just yet - see what they do about it and then take it from there.

Appalling thing to happen though - not the accident in particular but the 'cover up'.

Bear in mind the comment above as well, for Teds sake!

Not surprised you are fuming, but you may find a chat to the workshop manager will have the desired effect as Andy said.

I had to take my car to another dealer where they put it into the condition it should have been when sold to me (some work was done under warranty but i had to pay for some bits and pieces). i still had a bill for over £400 so sent a letter to my local dealer explaining i was not happy, and x and y had to be done by another dealer which should have been done by them. First letter was ignored by the guy who sold me the car, so i wrote another one saying if they did not reply i would take the matter further. The workshop manager phoned up and was very apologetic, they reimbursed me my money (however, i lost all faith after that and will never take my car back to them).
First point if you do phone is not to go ape sh!t, in my letters i was advised by the worksop manager of the second garage to just state what was wrong and dont get eggy, as this will only annoy them and they may get sh!tty back. keep it to the facts- after all you are not in the wrong here.
Hope you get this sorted, i know it is very annoying but try to stay calm, it will get sorted in the end.

I think you'd win hands-down - I seem remember reading some posts from you a while back about your continuing saga - is that all sorted out now - sure at one point you were talking about packing in Lotus ownership...

Mind you that's how I felt last week when I got my HUGE bill for not much work last week -In reality now that I've calmed down I'll still be getting an Exige S2 (when the house extension is finished!) but it will be privately bought from an enthuiast and will be driven down to Jude Performance in Newcastle for servicing etc...

Don't go ape on them. The chances are it was a new guy who had the misfortune to pull it off, then rather than having a bollocking of his superior he pushed it away for safe keeping!

I'm sure they will sort it out at no extra charge.
