The trouble is all this modification means the car is out of action a lot of the time

i reckon build another one like the original car for 'everyday' use and build an even harder version for fun

would love to see some pics of the rs200 you owned

RS200's are my all time favourite car of all time !! Seriously jealous of that one!

When is the Lotus being painted, really looking forward to seeing it done?

I really liked the RS but life moves in weird ways and it is now a fond memory. The R$D to make the car 900hp was costly and I almost forgot how much..It was fkin stupid..Oh well

The body is in primer and the painter is in control now, so it's just a matter of time

Awesome work Frank, looks like the build is coming along nicely - thought the first one was mental but this is something else.

Diffuser looks great, I'd be worried about grounding it on some of the canyon roads I've driven - guessing you've got that covered though.

when I just arrived here in Almelo the Netherlands in 2000, a neigbour who worked at the Ford dealer in Almelo said, you like cars to I see, yes I said, then I guess you also like the Ford RS200, I say yes very much, did you saw the one in our showroom window?

no I said, not bin there for some years (it is/was a bit strange located small dealership)
yes he said, although its a bit expensive...I asked how much it is then, well he said my boss asks
55.000,- Gulden (in 2000 that was, 1 gulden is about 0.4537 euro) so say 24.953,-euro...

So I said that not expensive, thats cheap...how does it looks, well he said looks like new...
thoses days in 2000 normally they asks around 120.000,- gulden (say 54.444,-euro) for a RS200 in good state.

So next day I went to that dealer and there it was, a wonderful white with striping? road RS200 with some extra's and extra power biggrin

But I had no money (just bought the house and not rich) but I thought its so cheap, so I tried to sell my car and maybe get some money out my house...but in a week the car was sold....just a week after I saw it when it already was there for some months but I did not know (no Internet and they not advertised it because it looked also good in the window/showroom part)

thats the story that still hunts me biggrin grrrr.

it looked like this one I believe...but will no further 'spoil' your topic, just a story to share.

indeed, so your RS200 was such special E as Evo and around 600hp nuts
sounds even more special and rare.
But since many years not looking any-more into those cars, way out of reach biggrin
also lot other great cars on sale or which you can make special to your 'needs' in a better
price range that still can make you smile.

I'm done going nuts with any more projects, this Lotus is my last mental car. I smile just thinking about finishing and have no idea how I'll feel getting behind the wheel after 9 months.. biggrin

Lower front heat exchangers are done with louvers to direct the airflow and protect the cores from road crap tossed up from the tires..

You need to sack your welder! Surely with the attention to detail you have, you would want something looking tidier?

Looks vs strength I'll take welds that have never split... Over the years every pretty weld I've had on headers or chargecoolers done by the big buck guys have all cracked over time.
I've never had a weld done by Mike split....

Once the bits are covered in wrinkle black powder coat it's "what welds ?"

Gettin down to the details... more finish sanding and just adding lightness..

Added bronze bushings to new 2.2 quick steering rack..
