I was told last week, that Exige demos would be end of May with customer cars end June (we'll see...)

Elise demos first, so should be next few weeks. Production ramping up again after slow down.

The more I see of it, the more it confirms my opinion that you're going to be paying £20k for a supercharged Toyota V6 engine. Which is pretty poor value by my estimation. It looks wierd.

Whose V6 would you rather Lotus used, assuming they had free rein (which they don't)?

I imagine you agree that it should be extremely reliable and not too expensive to maintain.

So go on then, which reliable 340+bhp V6 would you rather see in the back of the new Exige?

I wouldn't be against that!

But interesting to see how it would affect the weight and price!

I personally would love to see this in the back but they'd only ever sell one and that's to me.

even better this:

2.4 litre supercharged 500bhp, 90kg.

a man can dream.

Yes all NA. I'm sure it's a coincidence with the new jag concept which was a hybrid so some of it's 380bhp would have come from electric motors.

Those jag v6's were mondeo based but mountune versions are all race engines so quite unsuitable for most on here. I'd wager they'd be reliable enough for my purposes though.

here's that RST V8 in action, in the ludicrous Caterham Levante.

Its also in a few Ariel Atoms the 500 I think.

Exige is on the small platform line with the Elise, Evora is on a separate production line with the two converging towards the end.

So even if they built ALL the Elises on order before starting a single Exige S (which I doubt will be the case) the queue is 345 cars, not 777.

Got to give it to you T, you know your onions...

btw just heard on good authority that there 'maybe' a demo v6 (that we can get our grubby mitts on and drive) doing a dealer tour within the next 2 weeks or so. all positive stuff.

It does look smart in that company biggrin

Not sure that black is it's best colour though. Looks a lot more interesting in the brighter colours to me. That light blue looks quite nice. Really looking forward to seeing one in yellow! That should be the business.

The magazine tests etc. are all underway now I believe. Evo will be publishing their verdict in the issue out 23rd May (subscribers get it a week or so earlier).

I see in the PH news that Chris Harris was recently at Lotus filming his PH video. No doubt you are under embargo Chris but I'm sure we are all looking forward to your verdict.

Press are free to publish tests from tomorrow aren't they? I'm not sure which i'm more excited about, this or the Avengers! It looks tiny compared to others in that group test. I expect quite a lot of hype about it's track ability. Journos who think the GT3 and GTR are good track cars (they are not) could be in for a shock.

That engine has been around a long while now, (Russell savory built it I think) was originally two Yamaha 1000 genesis motors siamesed together on the same crank and cases, now using Suzuki Hyabusa cylinders for 500BHP,
Should be quite reliable if looked after.
